What's going on this week!

In my reading this past week, I came across the quote above. In reflecting upon the quote, I realized how true this quote really is and how it can apply to all of us in both our personal and professional lives. As we have discussed many times, if we have no map or plan on how to get where we are going, most of us will become very lost...at least I know I will!

In addition, if we don't know where we are going, then how will we know when we get there? How will we know what direction to go or what avenues to take? Sometimes we have heard the word "autopilot" to refer to situations where we seem to be just floating through something, but when you really get to thinking about it, at least if a pilot is truly on "autopilot", he/she at least knows their destination, how long it will take to get there, and what it is going to take to get there.

Over the past few months we have engaged in numerous discussions about where we want to go as a school. We have talked about and have agreed on the direction we want to move, where we want to be, and the goals we hope to see our students attain. I truly believe this is the first step in charting our course for improvement and determining our avenues for getting there. We want to make sure we are going down the right roads...why...because if you have ever been lost before, you know how much precious time you loose when you get lost and can't find your way. As you all know, we don't have time to lose with our students.

As we travel down these new roads to success, we will encounter bumps along the way and may need to stop and refuel. Sometimes we may need to stop and ask for additional directions or clarification and more often than not, we will need to seek assistance from those that are with us on our journey. However, with fortitude and determination, we will reach our goal because our destination is much more important than the struggle it takes to get us there!

Have a great week at RMS!
