Thanks, everyone,

Gingerbread Village

It's almost that time of year again... time to start making plans for your family's gingerbread house! Once again, JES will host a seasonal Gingerbread Village for all our students and families to enjoy through December.

Please read the flyer about details and be prepared to bring in gingerbread houses on Monday, November 29th, and Tuesday, November 30th. Participation is voluntary!

Gifting Project

We have such a generous community and will be providing more information in the coming weeks on how your family can sponsor a child in need in the DFW area. We are partnering with the Gifting Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring children in need feel the joy of receiving a gift this holiday season.

Stay Connected

There are many ways you can stay connected with PTO; you can visit our website, join the Jack D. Johnson Elementary PTO Facebook page, and now you can sign up for the PTO text messaging service. The text messages are to keep you updated on our main events and activities. To sign up, text “PTOJES” to 1-866-516-0824, and for DAD’s club text “JESDADs” to 1-866-516-0824.

JES Angel Tree

Our traditional angel tree is filled with angels in the front office at JES. Each year, we have our own Angel Tree to provide for children at Johnson. If you are able to help, I hope you will choose an angel and make it a family project of showing gratitude and compassion for those families associated with Johnson who can use our help. Have a wonderful winter holiday! ~Mrs. Johnston

Clothing Needed for the Nurse's Clinic

What a season to reflect on our thankfulness! While you are home next week, will you please check the closets for girls and boys in size small and medium pants that no longer fit? The clinic is running extremely low on spare clothes and our greatest need is athletic/ legging type pants. Thank you and have a great break :) ~Nurse Shelby

Questions About Homework?!

Math: 1-2 assignments given through Think Central. To access the assignment(s) students will need to log into their Class Link account. Because Classlink is a website, it can be accessed through most devices. https://launchpad.classlink.com/slcarroll ) On some devices, an app can also be downloaded to make access faster. A quick link to Class Link is available here, on the grade-level website, and on the student tab on the Southlake Carroll ISD website. Once logged into Class Link, students will then need to select the to the Think Central portal, which will allow them to access the homework. We have been practicing this process at school this week, so hopefully, they will be ready to do this at home. Homework will be assigned on Friday and due the following Friday.

Reading: Students are expected to read daily for 20 minutes at home.

These assignments represent the minimum of what's expected. In addition, we highly encourage your child to practice their math facts and practice their math skills. Your child can use Imagine math for this (also available on Class Link). We would also like to encourage you to have conversations with your child about the books that they are reading. Not only do these conversations help them make connections to the text, but it also helps them to express their thinking in ways that eventually improve their writing skills. For ideas about what you could ask, read the article linked below.
