Sample Meal

An ideal meal for a growing teenager would be nutrient-dense foods that are high in nutrients and all-around healthy. A sample meal, for instance, could be a barbecue chicken breast.

Calorie Needs

Calories can vary depending on your gender and how active you are. For instance, active teenage boys may need 3,200 calories a day while an inactive teenage boys may only need 2,000. In general, though, teenagers need to consume many foods that are nutrient dense.

An ideal example for foods teenagers should be eating are foods that are whole grain because they are low in fat, but they're high in fiber & carbohydrates. (ex: whole-wheat pasta)

Another example are fruits and vegetables because they are naturally low in fat. (ex: broccoli, leafy greens, green beans, peppers, strawberries, and citrus fruits)
