Message from Principal
Dear Saint Ambrose Parents,
Thank you to all who attended our "Going to Bat for Saint Ambrose" event last Friday. It was a convivial gathering with wonderful connections. We are grateful for all of the generous donations, amazing volunteers and for this strong community.
I am impressed by the great learning going on in our school. Students are demonstrating their understanding of concepts, showing growth academically and socially, and living their faith generously. We have 12 days of school left, and we plan to make each one meaningful.
We finished our MAP testing for grades 2-8 this week. Parents will receive scores before the end of the school year.
Lunch menu change
Monday the 16th - Chicken Tacos or Philly Flat Bread, Green Pepper Slices, and Canned fruit
Tuesday the 17th - Hamburger or Chicken BLT Wrap, Chips, and Fresh Fruit.
**We will be eating outside on Tuesday, your child may bring a towel or blanket to sit on.
Negative Lunch Balances
I know free school lunch has been a huge help for many families this year. Students who get seconds and extras are still being charged for those options, and many families owe lunch money. Please check your balance and make a payment if needed.
Last Day of School
Our last day of school is Wednesday, June 1. We invite parents to join us for Mass at 2PM that day, with popsicles provided after Mass to celebrate a great year. Look for more details in the upcoming weeks.
Praying
by Mary Oliver
It doesn't have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch
a few words together and don't try
to make them elaborate, this isn't
a contest but the doorway
into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.
Blessings on your weekend,
Betsy Osterhaus Hand

Parent Input Form
Parent Input Form for 2022/2023
As part of our class placement procedure, we would like to offer parents the opportunity to submit information about their child that they believe would help us in making class placement decisions.
Class placements will be based on educational data, recommendations from licensed staff, the creation of balanced classroom rosters and the attempt to find the best “fit” for students based upon professional judgment. This process is not intended to allow parents to request a specific classroom teacher or placement of specific students in their child’s classroom.
Timeline for placement:
Deadline for Parent Input Form- June 1, 2022
Admin will work on class assignments- June -August 2022

School Mass:
Parents are welcome to attend school Mass.
1. Please sit in one of the sections closest to the choir loft. We do not have any classes sitting in those two sections.
2. Please allow your children to sit with their classmates; it is fine to give a hug on the way in or out of Mass, but we'd like our students to attend Mass with their class.
Thank you! We are thrilled to have parents at Mass.
School Uniforms
- We get feedback from parents that we are too stringent on uniform enforcement, and that we are too lax. Our objective with the uniform is to be uniform. Please support us as we enforce the guidelines. There are a number of students who need haircuts, whose shoes are not in compliance ( black and/or white), and some whose skirts are too short. Please check on your child's school uniform before sending them to school next week.
- Next week, we'll send notices to families whose students are out of compliance so you can make needed adjustments.
- There is nothing personal about enforcement; our goal is to look sharp and be ready to learn in our uniform uniforms. Thank you!
Has your student had Megan McEnaney as their 2nd-grade teacher?

Summer School
We offer a summer enrichment program for students entering kindergarten through grade six. There are a variety of classes in a wide range of topics including STEM, computer programming/coding, mathematics, science, reading, cooking, art, lego, computer games and much more. This is considered an enrichment experience and students find it fun and exciting to explore topics and subjects that may not be a part of a typical curriculum.
Courses will be offered Monday through Friday from July 11-15th. Students may take from one to three courses. All courses will be 1.5 hours in length. Lunch will be provided.

CALENDAR
We have completed the calendar for the upcoming school year. 2022-2023 School Calendar
Free Chromebooks
The school is offering a limited number of Dell 3120 Chromebooks free to families who might be interested. These units have reached the end of their predetermined life cycles and will accept no further operating system updates from Google. As such, the school can no longer use them. They still boot up, they still attach to wifi, they still hold a charge from their AC adapters, and they've been extracted from our management environment. They could potentially be useful to some families. These units are being distributed with the understanding that they are as-is, and no technical support of any kind can be provided. Please contact Tim Demco at tdemco@saintambroseschool.org if you are interested in obtaining a chromebook.
Lunch - The USDA will be providing free lunches for ALL students for the 2021-2022 school year. First meal and milk will be free of charge. There is a charge for seconds ($2.00) and milk (.60) taken with cold lunch. Look for lunch account information in the back-to-school folder.
Even though school lunches are of no charge this year, if you feel your family would qualify for free and reduced lunch, we ask that you fill out the application. By filling out this application, Saint Ambrose receives funding and will benefit the family as well. Please print this application and return the completed application to the school office.
Communication from school:
Log in to Sycamore to update any changes to your contact information. Download the Sycamore Education app to quickly access lunch menu, calendar and other essential school information.
School Emergency Closing Notifications -
This school year we will continue to use our Sycamore System for text and email notifications for school closures and delays due to inclement weather. You may also check Kare 11 and WCCO for notification that District 833 is closed - if they are closed we will be closed.
Make sure to update Sycamore with your current phone numbers and emails as soon as possible.
