Reopening 2020 Update

July 14, 2020

Dear Millbury Families,

We hope you are doing well and enjoying the start to your summer. The Millbury Public Schools’ School Committee, administration, and staff are thinking of you and are making preparations for our Fall School Reopening. We’re looking forward to reuniting with students and families.

The MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released Initial Fall School Reopening Guidance at the end of June. Since the release, there have been many meetings taking place in the district, including the district leadership team, the Reopening Committee, and the working groups (Academic Programming, Operations, and Safety and Wellness). This committee is comprised of parents, teachers, administrators, and town personnel. These groups are in the preliminary stages of preparing for the upcoming schedule under the guidelines set forth by the State. We are also continually receiving more State updates. With that said, our top priority is the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and community.

Our school district will be seeking input from you for the reopening of the 2020-2021 school year. In the next couple of days, you will be receiving a family survey pertaining to school reopening. This survey will help us understand what you are envisioning for your student(s) and what we need to consider when developing our plans. Your input is important to us!

Thank you,

Rick Bedard, Reopening Committee - Operations Working Group Chair

Lizz Boutiette, Reopening Committee - Academic Programming Working Group Chair

Kate Ryan, Reopening Committee - Safety & Wellness Working Group Chair
