Lake Street School
January 2021 Newletter
Happy New Year!
Please join me in welcoming 2021! We are very excited to see our students back to school. We will continue our safe practices as we go about our business of teaching and learning, while focusing on our students' well being.
On behalf of the entire LSS staff, we wish you a healthy and happy 2021!

Principal, Lake Street School
From Mrs. Gessay
Student success is dependent on many factors, including good attendance. Aside from illness, students should be in school and on time when appropriate. We were experiencing a number of late arrivals and early dismissals, which means a disruption of learning. Students must be in their classes by 8:15 a.m. to be considered on time. Student dismissal is
2:45 p.m. Please try to schedule appointments outside of school hours, if possible.
Students arriving after 8:15 am must be brought to the Main Office at the front of the school. After this time, staff are with students and the outer doors are locked.
Have a very Happy New Year!
From Mrs. Valentino
Dear LSS Families,
Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the weather each morning. Hats, boots, warm jackets, and gloves are essential for the students to enjoy their time outdoors. I have limited extra coats in my office they can borrow just for a day.
Students will have outdoors recess if temperatures and wind chills are above 26 degrees. Also, in order to keep them hydrated, it is very important to bring a water bottle to school every day and refill it if necessary.
Below is the list of COVID-19 symptoms for which everyone should monitor in their family members:
❑ Fever (100.4° Fahrenheit or higher)
❑ Chills or shaking chills
❑ Uncontrolled new cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)
❑ Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
❑ New loss of taste or smell
Students showing any of these symptoms should remain home. The doctor’s office should be contacted to report their symptoms and receive medical advice.
For additional information on COVID-19 symptoms, please see:

If you need to report your child absent, please call the Health Office. You can contact me directly at 860-870-6088 during school hours or may leave a voice message.
Please, feel free to contact me with any questions.
