Jackson Jaguars ROAR
Week 8: October 12 -October 16, 2020
Dear Jackson Parents/Guardians,
Specials
If your child(ren) participates in Remote Learning, please make sure that your students are logging on EVERYDAY to complete not only their daily assignments with their classroom teacher, but also their Specials lesson. There are Colorado State Standards that must be met each year for each grade level. It is not optional and students do receive a grade in Specials. So please make sure they complete their weekly assignments.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences are right around the corner. Due to the restrictions that are in place for visitors to enter the building, we will be scheduling all conferences via WebEx. Classroom teachers will be scheduling a 20-30 minute conference with you.
We will be holding conferences for 2 weeks in order to accommodate your busy schedules, beginning October 22nd until November 6th. As a reminder, it is a Jackson Elementary expectation that ALL families participate in their annual conference. This is a great opportunity to be able to meet one on one with your classroom teacher(s), learn how your child(ren) is doing in school, see examples of their work, and learn how to support your child(ren)'s learning at home.
In addition to our annual Parent/Teacher Conferences, we will be continuing our tradition of parent activities, but instead of being in the gym, we will have them on Schoology so that you can complete the activities with your child(ren) over the course of two weeks. Once the 3 activities are completed, your child(ren) will get to pick out FREE, BRAND NEW BOOKS!
We look forward to meeting with you and as always, if you would like to include myself, our School Social Worker, Mrs. Ruiz, one of our Interventionists, our ESL Teacher, Mrs. Graff, etc. in your child(ren)'s conference, just let your teacher know and we will make sure that happens! Thank you for continuing to work with us as a true Home/School Partnership! It is definitely what is best for our students and children!
Please make sure your child(ren) brings a mask to school!
It is very important that your child(ren) bring a mask to school each and every day. We have have students come to school without a mask everyday and we need for you to supply your child(ren)'s mask. Thank you for your help and support with this!
If you think your child is ill:
We would like to thank you for taking the necessary precautions to make sure that students who come to school are healthy! We know that this is a difficult time of year with the traditional sniffles that tend to go around, but we have to be more cautious than ever! Please follow the guidelines below to ensure that your child(ren) only comes to school if they are healthy. Please call the front office if you have ANY questions regarding if your child should come to school or not.
Thank you for your continued support and patience throughout this school year. There are many unknowns and we know you are eager for answers. Please know we are getting them to you as soon as possible. Call the office at (719) 328-5800, your classroom teacher, or me (719) 328-5802, if you have any questions!
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Thank you,
Sara Miller

Library Check Out Starting this Week!
Library circulation looks different this year, but we are excited that we can start checking out books this week. You Touch, You Take, You Try will be the theme for Preschool - 3rd Grade. These students will be able to pick from books that will be displayed on the tables in the library. Students are able to request their favorite books be available the next week.
4th, 5th, and Online Students will log into the Destiny Library to place holds and their books will be available the next day. More information for the Online Students will be coming from the Online Teachers soon.
We have a new section in the library called Free Books to Borrow. These books will be available to students who have a lost or damaged a book on their card. The students are able to take one of these books home and exchange it for another book the next week until the fine on their card has been paid.
Online Book Fair Time Machine - Books Can Take You Anywhere!
Our Online Book Fair will start on October 22nd - November 6th and I will send out the link for the book fair next week. The kids will be coming home with the Book Fair flyers soon.
After Parent/Teacher Conferences and family activities are completed, students will receive more free books to add to their home libraries. As the kids will tell you, giving the students free books is my favorite part of working in the library.
Please contact me if you have any questions or if you need technology support. I can be reached at rhonda.sobecki@d11.org or call me at 719-328-5824.

Keep Collecting those Box Tops for Education
There are 2 ways to do this:
1) As you shop in your grocery stores, look for the logo on the boxes. They do not need to be clipped. Simply scan your receipt once you download the APP to your phone. Register Jackson Elementary to receive the points. We will earn 10 cents per item. You can also see the list of products and specials they are running.
2) Send in any clipped out Box Tops you may have saved over the summer with your student to their classroom. I will collect these from each classroom.
Thanks for supporting Jackson Elementary. Every Box Top helps!
