PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
-L.M. Montgomery
The month of October is a great time to reflect on the beginning of the year and make plans for a continued bright school year. We are off to a great start! Just as the leaves are beginning to show their truest and most vibrant colors, the beauty of our students' growth and potential is developing before our eyes. It is a spectacular sight to see!
I recently read, the true vibrance of the leaves and picturesque landscape in Fall is determined by the amount of rain the trees receive early on in the Summer. Similarly, the way in which we nurture our students' academic and social-emotional development links directly to their true brilliance being outwardly seen.
Our focus this year is on providing avenues to strengthen our home and school partnership to better support our students. Parent Teacher Conferences are a great way to discuss your child's progress and make plans with your child's teacher for a successful school year. During Fall Conferences, we will also be offering two parent informational sessions. One session will provide parents information on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Our second session will focus on reading strategies and ways to support literacy at home. More information will be shared closer to conferences. I look forward to continuing to work together to ensure our students reach their fullest potential and show their most vivid colors!
Learn Together, Grow Together!

CLOTHING REMINDERS
ATTENTION FAMILIES OF KINDERGARTEN, FIRST AND SECOND GRADE STUDENTS:
Students are required to keep a complete change of clothing (shirt, pants, underwear and socks) in their book bags at all times. There are many reasons for students needing to change clothing outside of having bathroom accidents. Some examples would be spilling their water bottle, food, milk, glue or paint onto their clothing or getting into mud and rain puddles on the playground. The nurse’s office is very limited on the sizes available for students to change into. Students also feel more comfortable in their own clothing instead of borrowed clothing. Please make sure that the clothing is appropriate for the season.
TO ALL FAMILIES:
If your child has borrowed clothing from the health room, please wash and return the items immediately so that others may use them if needed. Look for notices in your child’s take home folders or book bag if they have borrowed clothing and have not returned it.

SECOND STEP LESSONS
Linked are the Homelink pages that accompany Second Step lessons taught in the classroom. These pages provide information on what skill was taught, as well as how families can further support or strengthen at home what they learned. It is not necessary to do anything with it, but we want to be transparent about what our program is teaching. Please note that not all lessons have Homelink pages, but we'll always share what topics are being covered. If you have more specific questions you can always contact your child's classroom teacher.
