Which Came First?
Our KAES 2nd and 3rd grade are incubating chicken eggs. As they study the life cycle of a chicken they are making first hand discoveries and making scientific hypotheses. We are able to do this through a grant from the Texas A&M Agri extension office whom offers these wonderful educational programs. Today, with a light, the students were able to look inside the egg and see growth, movement and life.

(Repost) Parent Teacher Conferences
Our first quarter ended this past Friday. Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, Oct. 19. This is a chance to discuss how your child is doing so far this school year. Teachers will also share about the recent MAP test that all students, kindergarten through 8th grade took. I encourage you to take this opportunity to talk with your child's teacher. As in past years we will use sign-up genius to schedule appointments with teachers. Classroom links are listed below in red. I will also send you an email with them. Sign-ups will close on Sunday at 12:00 pm. It only takes three short steps to sign up.
1. Click the link for the grade your child is in.
2. Select the time and at the bottom of your screen click "Submit and sign up" .
3. Enter in your information and click "sign up now"
We do have a couple of different procedures this year due to covid. When you arrive for your meeting, please check in at the school office. Please do not enter the building any more than 5 minutes before your scheduled meeting. The gymnasium will be closed on Monday, Oct. 19. Children will need to stay with parents as no child care will be available.Teacher will disinfect the common use area between meetings. Please come on-time or a little early.
We are also offering to have conferences over the phone if you are uncomfortable having them in person. Just indicate your preference when you sign up and your child's teacher will call you at your scheduled time.
If you have a child in middle school, please schedule your parent/teacher conference with your child's homeroom teacher. They will be able to share with you about all subject areas. If you still would like to meet with a different teacher about a subject you can schedule a meeting after the P/T Conference by calling the office.
Thank you for all your support, working with your child and your child's teacher. We have had an excellent first quarter and we are looking forward to a great rest of our year.
