PSJA Battle "ILLITERACY"
"Battle of the Books"
The Odds Were Ever In Their Favor!
Students from Austin Middle School and Memorial ECHS won the Battle of the Books Tournament. They glowed with pride as they took the lead in the recent battle at the PSJA Southwest ECHS library. Students from eight middle schools and seven high schools started the preparation in October 2013. Librarians worked laboriously with their team to prepare them for this grand event.
Joining us were invited guests from Region One and neighboring districts. The PSJA Library Department has challenged these and all Region One districts to the Battle. Present were:
La Joya ISD-Ms. Perri Ann Huntley
Mercedes ISD-Ms. Dolly De La Cerda
Donna ISD-Rebecca CastaƱeda-De Hoyos
San Benito CISD-Linda Villarreal
Region One-Maria Elena Ovalle and Fabi Fuentes
This event is sponsored by our former Tri-City Business and Education Coalition now Education Foundation. We thank them for making this a successful event for our PSJA students.
