Mrs. Drudy's COVID-19 e-Learning

Day #3 Agenda
Good morning! We are on a roll, aren't we? As always, do not hesitate to reach out to me during the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. if you have questions or concerns about the assignments and/or activities.
Here is your Day #3 of our Coronavirus eLearning agenda.
Morning Message
Obviously, you do not have your whiteboard nor your task journal at home, so simply read the Morning Message and complete the tasks on any piece of paper...even on the back of a junk mail envelope is fine with me, as I do not need you to return this to me.
Big Ideas:
- We can read grade-level appropriate or higher texts smoothly and accurately, with expression that connotes comprehension at the independent level.
-
Ask and answer questions (e.g., who was the story about; why did an event happen; where did the story happen) to demonstrate understanding of main idea and key details in a text.
Mathin' Down the Trail
Now that we're all fired up about the Iditarod, check in with your musher along the Iditarod trail. I'm thinking we just might see some of those teams cross the burled arch in Nome tonight. What about you? You may access the Iditarod website by clicking here.

Remember, there are several things you complete every day in your Iditarod Data Binder. These items include:
- List the last checkpoint (s)he visited and chart miles traveled and miles to go on your Musher's Tracking Sheet.
- List the Daily Standings by listing the Top 10 each morning.
- If you have a QR code reader, find the weather at your checkpoint. This information can also be found at www.noaa.gov, but you will need to manually type in your checkpoint name (or its nearest town/village). Fill in the temperature in degrees Celsius on your bar graph. If this task proves too difficult because you are unable to access without a QR code reader, then please skip this portion of the data gathering.
- Also on the Race Standings tab scroll all the way to the bottom to find out who has scratched. List these items, too, on your Scratched page. (If you were absent on Friday, you may not have this page.)
Big Idea:
I can solve simple addition, subtraction, and comparison problems using information shown on a graph.
Big Idea:
I can solve real-world problems involving addition and subtraction within 100 by using pictures, words, and/or a number sentence to solve.
Beauty of the Checkpoint
Reading / Language Arts
Please choose 1 activity from the from the Vocabulary Choice Menu. You will eventually do a total of five for the week. Choose 2 activities from the Comprehension Choice Menu. Use your leveled reader book that was included in the bag sent home on Friday for these activities.
Spelling
Use the Spelling Activity Menu and choose 1 activity to practice your spelling words. Simply complete these on any paper. Along with the activity menu is a list of this week's words. By week's end you should have completed five of these activities.
Big Idea:
We can spell correctly common, proper, possessive, and collective nouns, irregular plural nouns, and personal and possessive pronouns.
Author's Visit: FB LIVE with Ben Clanton
Does your family have Facebook? If so, Ben Clanton, author of the Narwhal books asked the following of us, "Stuck at home? Want to draw with me and talk about waffles and mermicorns? I'm doing two FB LIVE sessions this next week." Sounds like a good time to me, and I'll be there!
