Dear Brooks County ISD Parents, Students, Stakeholders, and Community:

As always, it’s great to be a Jersey and we continue to feel the pride of our Jersey Bulls & Belles this year! We continue another week in the 2022-2023 school year as a year-round school district and I cannot thank our faculty, staff, students, and their families for working with us.

We will have our first intercession from Monday, September 5 through Friday, September 9 so I want to take some time to explain a few things for our families. Intercession is a small break or period from regular academics and allows us to provide non-traditional academic targeting, closing of the gaps, and enrichment activities that develops various skills.

Brooks County ISD will be offering accelerated instruction for students who failed the first six weeks in accordance with the Additional Days School Year. Students in grades Pre-K through 5th grade who failed the 1st six weeks are mandated to attend this intersession from Tuesday, September 6 through Friday, September 9 from 8:15 AM to 12:30 PM. The students who attend the four days will be participating in a Fun Friday Fieldtrip out of town.

Be on the lookout for any letters or correspondence from your student(s) teacher notifying if your student(s) must attend during intercession. Should you have further questions, please contact your student(s) respective campus and/or their teacher.

I want to give a shoutout to our amazing students who have been achieving great milestones through academics and athletics. It was especially great to see the energy of our families and fans supporting our Jersey Bulls Football team at our first home game of the season. We were able to defeat Santa Maria High School and I know our students and staff and ready for the remainder of the season. Go Jerseys!

With Jersey Pride,

Maria Rodriguez Casas, PhD
