WOW!
Hawk Families,
It was a HAWKsome first week with students back #OnTheHil after 9 months away! Thank you for reviewing safety protocols and procedures with your child. Even though our faces are masked, we have a building full of smiling teachers and students and we are proud to say that this week went smoothly. The information below is a review of information shared last week, as we will be welcoming Cohort B PreK-3 on Monday, November 2. All PreK-3 elementary students in Cohort A and Cohort C will work remotely. 4th, 5th, and Middle School Students will continue to participate virtually. Remember, November 3 is a Teacher Workday. Hilburn will serve as a polling site and no students should report to campus.
If you plan to participate in any fall activities this weekend, please be safe. Have a wonderful weekend!
See You Monday!

Virtual Academy Family News
- Please note your child's schedule may change slightly as teachers in our building adjust to serving students in the classroom nest and in the virtual nest. These changes will be small; however, we want you to feel prepared.
- K-3 Virtual Academy Classes will host our Remote Learning students on rotation days through November 16, 2020. You will notice a few new friends in your Google Meets until then. Please encourage your child to be a role model with his/her friends.
- You may begin to notice your child become just a little less enthusiastic about school as we enter into the fall months. This is actually an occurrence in the building as well. We call this the fall slump. The newness of a new year has worn off and students tend to miss the freedom of summer. To combat this in the classroom we try hard to give students encouragement, breaks, and fun rewards to help keep students moving forward and making steps toward progress. You can do this at home as well. Incorporate family weekly goals or personal goals into a routine and reward the whole family with fun activities or treats at the end of the week. Our rewards in the classroom are fun and free, so you won't have to add a trip to Target on your list...unless that's a reward ;).
Calendar Updates
- November 3 is a Teacher Workday. No students should report to campus.
- Report cards will be emailed home on Friday, October 30. Middle school families-- finalized grades will be available on PowerSchool on October 30.
- Our next Asynchronous Day will be November 18, 2020. No students should report to campus and all students should access remote learning activities in their Google Classroom.

Positivity Project: PERSPECTIVE
Perspective is also referred to as wisdom and is distinct from intelligence. People with this strength are sought out for advice because they see the big picture and can make sense of the world’s complexity. This strength of perspective gives individuals the ability to see to the heart
of difficult matters and achieve clarity. Most importantly, they are honest and behave in an ethically consistent manner.
“The simple things are also the most extraordinary thing, and only the wise can see them.”
