NEWS TO PLAN BY....

Thank you for a smooth first week back from break!! Now that we have gotten through the rules and procedures, it is time to push the gas pedal on instruction. WE MUST have that sense of urgency to get our students higher than where they are right now. I feel that in some classrooms, but not all.....and it should be felt in every classroom. EVERY MINUTE counts!!!! I will be looking for this feeling during my walkthroughs this week.

Another focus of walkthroughs will be on how you are releasing control of the lesson to your students for group or independent practice. You should model (I DO), practice together (WE DO), then release to the students (YOU DO). Students should be spending a large part of the lesson engaged in YOU DO practice while you circulate and support individual students or groups of students.

PLC meetings this week will focus on data and the YOU DO portion of the gradual release model. Please come to PLC's with data from the TZ Pre-Tests.

We will have new data to plan our guided reading groups. 3-6 Teachers- Bring your SRI data and updated groups to your PLC meetings this week. K-2, we will look at yours following DIBELS testing.

Speaking of guided reading...what is the purpose of each station while you are working at the teacher table? How are you incorporating standards needing remediation into your stations? Please make sure you are intentional in the task they are to complete and there is a way to measure student mastery.

I am finalizing a schedule that outlines days and times we will have tutors from IUPUI in the building. The final version will be shared with you during PLC's this week.

Our new MacBooks and iPads have been delivered!!!! I will be available for you to pick them after school on Monday and Tuesday from 4-5 pm in the conference room. I will be available for "Navigating the MacBook" help sessions on Wednesday and Thursday from 4-5 pm in the conference room.
