4th Grade News
Mrs. Honiotes and Mrs. Ross 10-5-16
What We're Learning This Week
I have tentatively scheduled the end of unit 2 reading test on October 17-18.
Math - Unit 2 - We have been focusing on multiplicative and additive comparisons
For an additive comparison example: Linda sold 8 bookmarks. Paul sold 9 more bookmarks than Linda. How many bookmarks did Paul sell? Paul sold 17 bookmarks.
For a multiplicative comparison example: Linda sold 8 bookmarks. Paul sold 9 times more bookmarks than Linda sold. How many bookmarks did Paul sell? Paul sold 72 bookmarks.
The students have also been working on finding the factors and multiples of a number.
I tentatively have the end of unit 2 math test scheduled for Friday, October 14th. A study guide will be given out.
Writing - The students are currently working on a Realistic Narrative - that is a story that could happen in real life. So far, students have planned, drafted, and are currently revising their story. Our revision focus so far has been on basic story revision, leads, and dialogue. We will work on transitions and conclusions and begin editing next week.
Science - Students have learned about the different ways to separate mixtures and have now moved into exploring our focus question, "What is Soil?" We will use this to help us understand the process of weathering and erosion.
Science Lab Coats Needed!!
