Raleigh Hills Newsletter

Weekly Message
Dear Raleigh Hills Community,
It was very fun to connect with families last night at our parent meeting. It is so important to keep up our connections during this time of separateness. Thank you to those who were able to attend. We will try to make that a regular gathering until the end of the year. Look for the invites to come from me via school messenger.
There is a lot of information in this newsletter, so I will keep my message short this week. We miss you and hope that you and your family are staying safe and healthy.
Warm regards,
Jennifer
Pick Up of Student Belongings
We will have pick up at the following days and times based on student's last name:
May 8 10-2 A-M
May 15 10-2 N-Z
This is for all students K-8. Please use the lower lot for pick up. You will drive up and tell us who you're picking up for. A staff member will bring your student's things and set them on a table and back away. Then you can jump out and get your student's belongings and take them home. We will not be able to return any unlabeled items. If we're not sure who it belongs to, we will store it here. When school opens up again, we will have a day for families to come and claim unlabeled items. All items will be bagged for you. No one other than BSD staff are allowed in the building at this time.

Middle School Grading
The Oregon Department of Education recently directed all secondary schools (grades 6-12) in Oregon to report class grades using only a Pass or Incomplete scale. As a result, BSD has updated our processes so that any class grade on any transcript for the Spring of 2020 will be displayed as a Pass or Incomplete. The Pass indicates credit earned while the Incomplete communicates that additional evidence of learning is required for the credit. Neither mark has an impact on students’ Grade Point Average (GPA).
In addition, beginning Monday May 4, 2020, all grades displayed in the Synergy gradebook will be calculated using only the Pass or Incomplete Scale. Teachers will continue to provide feedback on assignments using written, verbal, and numerical methods. Teachers will use the standard rubric scores (1-4) for numeric feedback. However, all overall (calculated) grades will be displayed as Pass or Incomplete. The minimum threshold for a Pass is 1.6 on the 1-4 scale.

Donate to BSD Community Resources Fund
The Beaverton School District is now accepting donations from the greater Beaverton community to support community-wide efforts to provide food boxes, toiletries and other essential items to our families during this emergency situation. Food Banks are working hard to remain stocked to feed communities. There are many Beaverton families who struggle economically even in the best of times, and this fund will enable the Beaverton School District to work with community partners to serve our families. We use this fund to triple the buying power and thus increase the amount of families we can serve, a number that increases daily. Pass this on to friends and neighbors (we can also honor matching dollars!)
