The fall of Macbeth
His wife died, now he's dead.
The indirect murderer
The one to blame for Macbeth's downfall is Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth convinces Macbeth to do more than one thing that ends up causing his death. As Lady Macbeth hears about the prophesies she instantly manipulates Macbeth to kill king Duncan. Lady Macbeth persuades Macbeth to kill Duncan by saying, ¨When you durst do it, then you were a man; And to be more than what you were, you would Be so much more the man,¨ (1.7 56-58). After Lady Macbeth made Macbeth kill Duncan she tried getting him to smear the blood of the daggers on the grooms so everyone will think they killed the king. Macbeth is already regretting the decision she manipulated him into so he says no so Lady Macbeth does it, ¨Go carry them and smear The sleepy grooms with blood,¨¨I´ll go no more. I am afraid to think what i have done,¨¨Infirm of purpose! Give me the daggers... For it must seem their guilt,¨ (2.2 67-77). After that Lady Macbeth basically told Macbeth they did the same crime but he feels bad about it even though he shouldn't, "My hands are of your color, but i shame To wear a heart so white," (1.2 85-86).
Literary devices
"Look like th' innocent flower but be the serpent under't,"(1.4 67-68). Simile. "Letting 'i dare not' wait upon 'i would Like the poor cat i' the adage?"(1.7 44-45). Simile. "Sleep that knits up the raveled sleeve of care."(2.2 37). Personification.
Why Macbeth killed Duncan (Picture 1)
Macbeth was a loyal soldier that has killed many times. Although he didn't feel bad about killing all those people he did feel bad after killing King Duncan, I am afraid to think what i have done,¨(2.2 67-68). He didn't want to kill Duncan but Lady Macbeth manipulates him by questioning his manliness and threatening to not love him anymore if he does not.¨When you durst do it, then you were a man; And to be more than what you were, you would Be so much more the man,¨ (1.7 56-58).
Why Macbeth killed Duncan (Picture 2)
Even though Macbeth holds the dagger, Lady Macbeth has the blood on her hands because if she didn't want Macbeth to kill Duncan, he wouldn't have. Lady Macbeth also tries to get Macbeth to plant the daggers so it looks like the guards killed Duncan but because he already felt too guilty he didn't and Lady Macbeth did it herself, "Infirm of purpose! Give me the daggers... For it must seem their guilt,¨ (2.2 73-77).
Macbeth is like The Hobbit
The Arkenstone is like Lady Macbeth, making Thorin threaten to kill Bilbo if he did not get the Arkenstone. Thorin is like Macbeth. He wants power and he is willing to kill for it, because the Arkenstone corrupts him.
