National Poetry Month at PVE!

What a great time!

  • One Book One School- Thanks to our PTO, each classroom received the book Pocket Poems as a part of our building-wide study and celebration of poetry. Here are some of the events that took place over the past two weeks at PVE:
  • April 5th- visit from Poetry Alive! - professional performers reciting and acting out poems for our students. This event was also made possible by our PTO.
  • April 6th- Drop Everything and Read Poetry & Drop Everything and Write Poetry- students and staff spent time reading poems and writing original poems at designated times throughout the day.
  • April 12th- Poem in Your Pocket Day- students carried in their pockets that were shared at a moment’s notice and performed by volunteers during lunch time.
  • April 15th- Buddy Read and Write Poetry- Classes linked up and read and/or wrote poetry together

All classes also wrote a class poem about Pleasant View Elementary. The poem could be in any form of poetry: haiku, limerick, rhyming, free verse, or other! These Class Poems were recorded o be shared on the daily announcements.

Below are some pictures and poems from classes in action:
