What's going on this week?

Make a Difference

Each week we have been looking at new letters while reviewing the past letters/sounds so that the students can develop a real understanding. Please make sure to go over letters, numbers, shapes and writing their name each day. Showing your children that you want to be involved in their studies is a key to creating life long learners.

Parent teacher conferences

This week our Parent Teacher conferences will be in the classroom. Conferences are an important opportunity to connect with teachers and to get in-depth information about students’ academic and social progress. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding your appointment.

This weeks special guest

This week during circle time we will have a surprise visitor from the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie come in and join our reading.

reading literacy

This week in class during circle time I will be reading If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff. Once the students have become familiar with the story they will then all get up and reenact the story as it is read aloud again. I will then extend the story into the Art Center where the students will each use drawing paper, markers, and their imagination to draw what they think would happen if they were to give a mouse a cookie. By the end of this lesson the students should be able to have a clear understanding of the main events that happened in the story.

This week we will be going over our numbers 1-12. One of the activities that the students will be doing goes along with this weeks book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. Students will be counting the cookies on each of the cards and recorded their answers on the recording sheet.

This week we will be learning about germs and how to stay healthy. We will go over the importance of washing our hands and how that helps us stay healthy. Here is a short hand washing song that the children can easily remember: Wash, wash, wash your hands, Soap will make them clean. Rub and scrub, scrub and rub, the germs that are unseen!

Please check your child's folder in their notebook DAILY. Please look at the conduct chart with your child and review his/her behavior. Also look out for important papers that may be in the folder. If there are papers please fill them out and send them back with your child.
