Olympic Middle School
Weekly Message for 1/22-1/26
Good afternoon Olympic families and staff!
Happy Sunday! While it was rainy this weekend, at least we didn’t have freezing temperatures. With rain and colder temps, please remind your student to bring coats to school with them. We have students not wanting to go outside because it is cold, and they do not have proper outerwear. Once the gym and library meet their student limits, outside is sometimes the only option our students have.
I wanted to let you all know that we had our fire alarm go off last Thursday morning at 8:05 am. We had a pipe break on our boiler, causing flooding and steam. It was in fact the steam that set the alarm off. It took the entire day, and our building did get cold. However, by 5:30 that night, our outstanding facility crew had repaired the pipe and heat began to flow! Our students did amazing. They were in all stages of getting to Homeroom and responded well to the alarm and cleared the building in 3 minutes. Other than the rain, it went very smoothly!
Intramurals: Season 3 starts tomorrow, Monday 1/22
Girl’s Basketball will practice M, T, Th and F this week and coach Vernon sent a message through Final Forms on Friday to families of students registered.
Boy’s Soccer will practice M, T, Th and F this week and coach Rodeback sent a message through Final Forms today to families of students registered.
A reminder that this Wednesday, January 24th is our next PLC early release with school dismissing at 1:05. Please make sure you have made arrangements for your student. Also on Wednesday, we will have our Martin Luther King, Jr assemblies that had been scheduled on our snow day.
Last Friday, your student brought home an information flyer about an upcoming family night on Wednesday, January 31st. This will be a literacy event, “Lemonade and Libraries” and starts at 5:30 in the commons with a quick presentation from Mr. Kraft and myself. We will have some of our ELA classroom’s open so your student can share with you the work they do in ELA, as well as our classroom libraries. Student work will also be available for your student to share with you! Please RSVP for this event.
Let’s have a wonderful week at Olympic!
