PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Pleasant Run Elementary Families:
This is Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township. As we prepare to finish the 2019-20 school year and continue to plan for the upcoming 20-21 school year, I wanted to share some information about both. Students who are currently in Kindergarten through 11th grade will be allowed to use their district assigned device over the summer. If you do not need the device or will not be attending a Warren school next year, you can turn your device in during materials pick the first week of June or Monday - Friday from 11:00 - 1:00 at the Walker Career Center, Door 70. When turning in your device, you need to include the iPad or Chromebook, the charger, chrome book plastic shell, and carrying case. Seniors will receive more information on their device turn-in process from their cohort team.
Early in June, we will be mailing grade level summer learning packets to all students in grades K-8. These packets will focus on essential math and reading skills as well as social emotional skills. Students will receive an incentive for completing their packet upon returning it to school in the fall. Our school reopening task force is planning for a variety of scenarios for the start of the 20-21 school year. We are working closely with the Marion County Health Department, the Indiana Department of Education and following guidance from Governor Holcomb to ensure that the plan we put in place provides the safest environment for students and staff. It is our goal to share this plan by the end of June. I will continue to keep you updated as new information becomes available.
As the school year comes to an end, it is important to us to return your student’s personal items. We have developed a plan for item retrieval similar to our technology device distribution. All schools will be distributing student's personal items via a drive through service the week of June 1st. If you have personal items at your child's school you want to retrieve, please complete this survey at (bit.ly/endofyearpickup) to assist us. Our Warren staff will be packing up these items over the next few weeks to prepare for distribution between June 1st - June 5th. Specific pick-up date/time for each building will be shared soon!
Online registration for Preschool and Kindergarten for the 20-21 school year is now available on our website under the Explore Tab. If you are a current Warren Early Childhood Center parent and will be attending a Warren Elementary School, please call our hotline number at 317-608-0545 and we will assist in getting your information moved over. If you have a new Preschool or Kindergarten student attending Warren, please use the online registration process. We are also accepting out of district applications at this time. More information is located on our district website.
Our food outreach will continue on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11-1 at 11 locations. Renaissance School, located at 30th and Post Road will be a new site and will replace Hawthorne Elementary. Wednesdays will continue to be 5:30 - 7 at 2 locations. Lakeside Elementary and now our Moorhead location at 8400 East Tenth Street will be a new site. If you have needs beyond what is being offered, please call or email our hotline at 317-869-4308 or MSDWarrenOutreach@warren.k12.in.us.
