Welcome Back!
Digital Learning Day
This year Rutherford County will be hosting our own Digital Learning Day on Wednesday, October 24, in addition to the National Digital Learning Day in February.
Lessons will focus on the new Science standards, and this is where I would love your help. Do you have a great digital lesson for Science? Please send it to me! We have lots of free Nearpod lessons for each grade band, but if you have any other awesome digital lesson ideas to suggest, please share them.

Please be sure to register in School Station and/or accept the calendar invite.
Device Updates
- Do RESTART devices on a regular basis. Please have students restart their devices once or twice a week. This helps make sure they are getting all the updates they should have.
- Do run UPDATES. If students are still having issues with headphones not working, please make sure they have run updates as well as ONLINE Windows updates. Sometimes they just do the basic updates and don't check the other. Find the steps HERE (you must be a member of the SMS Faculty TEAM for the link to work). You may need to do this with your device on occasion too.
- Do have students use EARBUDS. Ms. Mitchell has earbuds for sale for $5.00.
- Don't power devices OFF(desktops and laptops), but do SIGN OFF each night.
- Do have a student (or yourself) SIGN ON to your student desktop at least once a month. Set up a reminder in your Outlook Calendar if you need to.

What is Dotstorming?
Dotstorming takes the process of dot voting online to allow groups of people to collaborate on a topic.
Step 1 - Create a Dotstorming board
Step 2 - Invite participants
Step 3 - Add your ideas
Step 4 - Vote on the ideas you like
Another great link to explain Dotstorming in the classroom.
Mrs. Stuckey has used Dotstorming with great success in her classroom discussions.
I post tips and tricks from our PD sessions there that I don't post anywhere else.
