June 2021
Schlegel Families,
The 2020-2021 school year is winding down! We have navigated many changes this year as a school community. The Schlegel Staff stepped up to the plate and did what was most important-focused on Students First! We are proud of the positive approaches the staff took in educating each Schlegel student. Although our memories are very different than other years, we have cherished memories of each student and class. The Schlegel students and staff really do know how to rise above the challenges and continue succeeding in what is most important- instilling the love of learning and C.A.R.E.ing for self and others!
We recognize and value our student's families. Thank you for your unconditional support and respect of our work. You did not let the "noise" impact our staff or your children. We are fortunate to have a STRONG Schlegel Road School Community.
A special thank you to Mrs. Dardis (Fourth Grade Teacher), Miss Eckert (Kindergarten Teacher), Mrs. Margiotta (Fourth Grade Teacher), Miss Renna (Fifth Grade Teacher), Mr. Heary (Music Teacher) for being a part of the Schlegel Staff this school year.
Please join us in celebrating the following Schlegel Staff Members who are retiring as of July 1, 2021. We encourage students to celebrate with them by writing notes, drawing pictures, or whatever creative idea they may have. Each one of them has impacted 100's of students, staff, and families during their time in the Webster Central School District. We are thrilled they ended their career with us!

Message from the Office regarding lunch pickup/Notes to School
We are asking that you call the office if you are picking up your child early from school instead of sending in notes for the remainder of this school year.
A note from the Health Office
Beginning on January, 31, physical examinations conducted on or after January 31, 2021 for school must be documented on the NYS Required Health Examination form or an electronic health record equivalent form.
Below are links to the required form and instructions for the health care provider. They are also available on the district Health Office webpage (https://www.websterschools.org/districtpage.cfm?pageid=834). Please share these forms with your child’s health care provider. This typically is your child’s doctor, but also may be a nurse practitioner or a physician's assistant.

DAILY HEALTH SCREENINGS
As we are planning for school returning to a full day, the health office is requesting that you please complete your child’s daily health screening every morning, before they leave for school. The mandatory health screening needs to be done at home by parents/guardians.
PikMyKid can be used via the app or by visiting the website:https://parentapp.pikmykid.com. The app is available for download at your smartphone’s app store (Google-Play or iTunes). Once the app is downloaded, choose “Register” and follow the prompts to sign your child(ren) up. If you have any questions, please contact support@pikmykid.com or call 813-864-7627.
Instructions for registering for PikMyKid and completing the daily health screening are on the attached pages.
If you have questions, please call the Schlegel Health Office (585)216-6023.
Illness Guidelines and Returning to School
Please remember to keep your child home from school if they are experiencing new, unusual, or worsening symptoms that are associated with COVID-19. These symptoms include:
· Lethargy, fatigue
· Cough
· Chills, Shivers
· Body or Muscle aches
· Headache
· Sore throat
· Nasal Congestion, Runny Nose
· New Loss of Taste or Smell
· Nausea, Vomiting
· Diarrhea
You will need to call the attendance line (265-2513) to notify the school that they are home sick. You will also need to have your child evaluated by a healthcare provider within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms. They may recommend that your child needs a COVID test, or determine that the symptoms are due to an alternate diagnosis/chronic medical condition. Before your child is able to return to school, the health office will need to have a copy of the test results, a doctor’s note with the test results, or a doctor’s note with an acceptable alternate diagnosis/chronic medical condition. Additionally, your child’s symptoms will need to be significantly improved and they will need to be fever free (<100℉) for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medications. Please do not send your child to school until you have gotten a phone call from the health office to notify that we have received the required documents and your child is cleared to return to school.
If the testing result is positive, please notify the building principal or nurse immediately.
Contact the Health Office with any questions (216-6023)
Thank you for helping us to keep Schlegel happy, healthy, and safe!
Domestic Travel Quarantine Changes
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced on March 11th that domestic travelers will no longer be required to quarantine after entering New York from another U.S. State or U.S. Territory starting April 1st. While no longer required, the NYS Department of Health still recommends quarantine after domestic travel as an added precaution. Mandatory quarantine remains in effect for international travelers. All travelers must continue to fill out the Traveler Health Form. Individuals should continue strict adherence to all safety guidelines to stop the spread such as wearing masks, socially distancing and avoiding gatherings.
Since April 1st falls during our Spring Break, how does this affect Webster staff and students who travel to another state during this time? Asymptomatic individuals who return to NYS during Spring Break after domestic travel will not need to quarantine or present proof of testing out of quarantine to the District before returning to school unless directed to do so by the DOH.
Students and staff returning to school after traveling to a non-contiguous state before March 27th, must follow the current travel advisory guidelines. Per the NYSDOH, all individuals returning from travel must:
● Continue daily symptom monitoring through Day 14; AND
● Continue strict adherence to all recommended non-pharmaceutical interventions, including hand hygiene and the use of face coverings, through Day 14 (even if fully vaccinated); AND
● Must immediately self-isolate if any symptoms develop and contact their healthcare provider to report this change in clinical status and determine if they should seek testing. Parents should notify their child’s school nurse.
There are no changes in requirements for individuals who develop symptoms associated with COVID-19. Symptomatic students and staff must stay home from school, seek a medical evaluation and undergo COVID-19 testing if determined to be needed by the healthcare provider in conjunction with DOH criteria. Students may not return to school until cleared by the school nurse. Staff should contact their supervisor.
