Mrs. Vera's Memo
As we near the end of the school year I want to thank each and every one of you for synergizing with the LaCoste staff. We want to continue to showcase our students by acknowledging their academics and leadership throughout the school year. Please participate in our Virtual Award Presentation on May 28th at 4:00. Teachers will utilize your Skyward email or seesaw account to send you your child’s individualized award. We will be mailing awards to all students on May 28th.
In order for our campus to grow and excel we would like to participate in a Leader in Me survey. The information that we gather is a partnership to help empower students and families in our campus. (insert link)
Parents, students, and teachers working together through the Covid pandemic continue to build a culture of excellence with the support of each other. Together we are LaCoste strong.

Counselor's Corner
As we wrap up the school year, please take time to reflect on how far you and your family have come during the pandemic. We all chartered unknown waters and made it through the school year! I created a virtual classroom for the students that has some calming techniques, Leader In Me habit of the week, and some other tools. You can check it out here.
As always, please email me if you have concerns, need resources, or would like additional support. My email: cara.rakowitz@mvisd.org
Congratulations Mrs. Persyn!!!

She is a highly committed teacher and her entire career has been dedicated to helping and supporting all students. Her positivity and leadership enhances our school culture by her contagious smile, generosity, and warm heart. Mrs. Persyn is always willing to assist others and provides numerous hours of helping our campus students and staff achieve excellence.
Mrs. Persyn is more than deserving of the TASA Texas Teacher of the Year Award because she is a dedicated, kind, thoughtful, and devoted teacher. She is passionate about education and her quality and delivery of instruction is always done with a purpose. We are very fortunate to have Mrs. Persyn at LaCoste Elementary.
Cafeteria Balances
Several parents and/or school Principals have been inquiring about how parents can make a payment on their child's account. We are encouraging parents to make their payments online if the balance is over $10.00 on https://family.titank12.com/. If they need to make a payment in person, we prefer a check over cash. If they need to pay in person, they may contact one of the schools that is currently serving meals and coordinate a date and time to come by. The staff will come out to the vehicle to accept the payment. Our meal serving days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (excluding holidays).
For parents who wish to schedule or coordinate a date and time, they may call one of our open campuses at (830) 931-2243 at the following extensions:
Medina Valley High School ext. 1130
LaCoste Elementary ext. 3006
Luckey Ranch Elementary ext. 2613
Potranco Elementary ext. 2009 or Loma Alta ext. 4319

This week in Fine Arts
LaCoste Elementary Has Got TALENT! Students were asked to share their unique talents with me for Fine Arts this week. There was an array of performers who shared videos- from singers and dancers, to artists and illustrators, along with builders and jumpers! It was fun to see and definitely a different kind of Talent Show via Offsite. It was nice to have anyone who wanted to participate get to show their talent - because normally we pick novelty acts and never get to see things like illustrators, sketch artists, and outdoor acrobatics. Here are pictures snapped during each student's performance or showing their works of heART!
Coach's Corner
I want to thank all of you that are still submitting photos of ways you are remaining active and taking care of your bodies! Last week we showed ways to be active and this week we focused on Sun Care Safety tips. Summer is almost here & that means we need to be mindful of using sunscreen. Sunshine is good for you- in moderation. Sunshine provides Vitamin D, a key nutrient for our bodies. However, too much sun exposure can lead to sunburns, skin damage and over a long period of time even skin cancer. Always remember to wear a hat, apply sunscreen every 1-2 hours and limit time in the sun. I hope you are all doing well and I miss you!
Campbell Baron's Sidewalk Chalk Course
Here are some our Leaders wearing their new shirts! Thanks PTO for providing these shirts to the students!
