What's Happening in STEAM Class?
I’m Mrs. Marroquin. I’m the K - 4 Steam teacher. I’d like to spotlight the 4th graders this week.
We have been working very hard learning each stage of the Engineering Design Process (Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, Test, and Improve). The 4th graders have been designing the layout inside and outside of their tiny home. They have also been using geometry to make sure everything fits that is required of them. I’m very proud of their work.
We have stressed that when creating their tiny home, they had to follow through with their plan. They have been awesome in this process! When they made a mistake, they knew that they needed improve it by fixing it.
Give them all a fist bump when you see them! Here is a sneak peek of some of their work. When they are finished, I’ll send all of the pictures in Seesaw to the Fourth Grade families. Be on the lookout!
Mrs. Fletcher's Focus
As parents, the way we speak to our children is incredibly important. Words can build kids up... and they can just as easily tear them down. This is why finding positive things to say to your child matters!
In a world where saying "no" is a lot easier than saying "yes", we need to be especially careful that we use language which demonstrates to our kids that positivity has a higher value then negativity.
Children imitate what they see and hear hear. meaning, they will imitate kindness if kind words are spoken at home.
POSITIVE THINGS TO SAY TO YOUR CHILD
1. You are helpful.
2. You were right.
3. I know you did your best.
