Westwood Community Update
Covid-19 & School Closure Information - Volume 7
#WildcatPride
First, I would just like to acknowledge all of the moms out there, and hope that you all had an opportunity to feel appreciated in celebration of Mother's Day, and maybe even got a bit of rest! I would also like to express our gratitude for the many ways in which you all took time to show appreciation for our teachers and members of our staff during Staff Appreciation Week last week. I know I speak for everyone when I say that your efforts are worth more than you will ever know! Our community is amazing!
Next, as we approach the end of the school year we are making plans for getting you your child's belongings (spring pictures, schoolwork, water bottles, medications, report cards, etc.) and collecting school materials and supplies (library books, Chromebooks/power cords, instruments, textbooks). We are still working on specific procedural details, however, you can plan on the exchanges taking place the latter end of the week of May 26th. More details will be coming soon! If there are specific belongings you expect to collect, please let us know by emailing your child's teacher ahead of time with a detailed description of the item(s), so we can attempt to locate them and place them in your child's bag.
Finally, I know this 'new normal' is feeling anything but 'normal', and the adjustment has been very difficult - more difficult for some than others. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us. MDUSD and our partners can connect you with support for basic needs (food/Safeway gift card, clothing, shelter, counseling, behavioral support, etc.), in addition to educational resources. Please contact me directly, and I will get you connected with the right resources.
Sincerely,
Principal Klinkner
Intent to Return Survey (It's not too late!)
MDUSD Technology Survey
MDUSD Parents and Guardians,
As new technology resources become available for MDUSD centrally, including devices and wireless internet hot-spots, we are asking for all of our families to complete a brief, 8-question survey to help us understand your technology needs.
This survey may be completed on behalf of another family, and duplicate results will be deleted. We appreciate your taking the time to inform us how to best distribute our technology resources.

Yearbooks
We are working hard on the yearbook, with focus on capturing these historical times. The deadline to order yearbooks has been pushed back to May 24, with pickup in mid-July. Please send photos of how they are distance learning and managing through these crazy times, so that we can include them in the yearbook! Purchase your Yearbooks now <<click here>>!
#Slay50MilesinMay
While we are all working to stay safe, our Superintendent has challenged himself to walk, jog, or run 50 miles during the month of May, and would like to invite us to join him, and track our progress on Social Media using the hashtag #Slay50MilesinMay. That's about 3 miles/day if you start now. Stay safe, and let him know how you are doing with getting your miles accomplished. #walk, #jog, #run, #justmove Let's show him how Wildcats run! (P.S. You have my permission to combine your family members' miles!)
