Learning Through the Art K-5 Summer Institute

June 7-9, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm


Want to get away? Vacation with Learning Through Art this summer! Art can take you to other countries, cultures, and centuries.


Take a three-day MFAH tour focusing on the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions while learning innovative techniques to use in your elementary classroom to motivate and personalize learning for all your student, including LEP and gifted. Teachers receive hands-on activities, quality literature, motivating games, sample lessons, and interdisciplinary that inspire students to use higher cognitive thinking skills.


Materials, lunch, Museum admission, and 18 hours of SBEC and G/T approved continuing-education credit hours are provided.

Science Academies for Grades 5-8, Part 2: Force and Motion

Explore ways to improve overall science instruction and achievement in order to meet or exceed grade-level standards and ensure post secondary readiness. Participants will engage in hands-on, student-centered lessons that are framed in the research-based 5E model and provide connections to the 2010 science TEKS, CCRS, ELPS, and RtI. The session will also include access to online resources and professional learning communities. FREE
