Here are some of my favorite ideas:
- Have students use Write About to answer thought-provoking writing prompts
- Ask students to create tweets from a famous person (e.g., a scientist, author, politician, historical figure) using this Slides template
- Have students write emoji poetry
Drag and Drop Practice
This is a great site, in which students can practice various math skills, as well as refine their drag and drop abilities using a trackpad. Perfect for 2nd and 3rd graders!

Pixel Art in Google Sheets
Here are directions on how your students can use Google Sheets to create Pixel Art. Pixel Art is when you create an image out of a small grid with a limited number of colors.
Here are a few ideas on how to incorporate pixel art into your classroom:
- Fractions
- Area & Perimeter
- Art - create pixel versions of existing art
- Diagrams - make visual diagrams of a concept the students are learning about in class
- Technology Skills - Great for younger students to practice typing, use the arrow keys and trackpad, and click & drag
- General creativity - Have students be creative and make whatever they like
- Characters - Create characters from a book read in class or for a story that the students are writing
- Retelling - Recreate an event from history or illustrate a scene from a story
- Mapping - Create a map of the neighborhood, state, country, historical event, landforms, etc.
