Week of February 8, 2021
We Want Your Referral
At New Vision Charter School we are so lucky to serve our amazing students and families. As we were out and about this week in the halls and in classrooms, we slowed down and listened to the conversations and observed how our students were treating each other. We were blown away by the kindness that is being shown by our students and the desire to do the right thing even when no one was looking.
This week alone we witnessed a student, notice that there was an orange on the floor and instead of walking by, she stopped, and cleaned it up and threw it away. She did not notice that we were watching her. When we asked her why she did it, she said because "it was the right thing to do to keep our school clean." Another incident involved a group of 3rd graders walking in the hall. They were walking in a Nighthawk hug and bubble, and when we asked why they were doing it, they said it's the right thing to do and you never know who is watching you and we want to help the younger students do the right thing.
This got us thinking about Driveline. When we show extra grace and kindness, an extra dose of patience, and the extra effort to follow the expectations that have been set to help everyone get to and from school safely, what a powerful lesson we are teaching our kids. We are teaching them to be kind all the time.
As always, thank you for sharing your children with us. It is truly our honor to partner with you.
With extreme gratitude,
Mary Baker and Marian Hejl
