Zoom, Zoom, Zoom
The number one question or concern posted was: how will I stay in touch with my child's teacher in the event we move to a digital learning model, even if for a very short period of time.
It remains our top priority to keep lines of clear and consistent communication between teachers, parents, and students during this time. This will include the weekly Viator Voice, PlusPortals, emails and SMS text messages. Teachers will continue to use their established digital resources and classroom materials.
As a faculty and staff, we will be using Zoom in the event we temporarily move to virtual classrooms. Zoom has removed the 40 minute time limit for schools affected by the Coronavirus.
This will be an effective vehicle to communicate face to face with teachers, students, and parents. You can access via internet browser at: https://zoom.us/ There is also an app you can download on your cell phone or iPad. Protocols are being created to support the learning process and we will outline what you can expect if this were to happen. Stay tuned and stay well.

The Problem with Rewarding Perfect Attendance
The health of your children and our school staff is our prime focus each year. While a great deal of time is spent on treating children with injuries or illness, a large focus is also spent on prevention. The above highlights what we have been sharing with our faculty, staff and students.
Amid the growing concerns of this season's cold/flu/virus, we have received a directive from the Superintendent of Catholic Schools to suspend the policy of awarding perfect attendance as it encourages kids to attend school when they are not feeling up to it, either physically or mentally. This reward also penalizes children who have no control over illness; yet, families make the right decision to keep children home to recover. Ultimately, attendance matters to every student, every day.
A week in review
St. Viator Students ...
...are active, faith-filled Catholics who demonstrate a spirit of service.
Last Monday, our Student Government Officers spent the afternoon preparing meals for local homeless. We are very blessed to have students who recognize that we are all equal in God's eyes! They rolled up their sleeves and worked hard all afternoon long.
Sometimes the best lessons are not in classrooms...

MICAH Teacher, Angela Sligar, Shares Her Passion with Scouts
"Mrs. Sliger doing an amazing program teaching the Scouts what is it like for kids with Autism trying to take a test. Half the kids are doing irritating stimuli similar to what autistic kids experience and then they switched. This was just one of the many amazing lessons this morning.
Another blessing of the Micah program!
Keep doing what you are doing!"
