Evaluation of development activities
Why is an evaluation form required?
- It supports the staff development team in providing advice to colleagues on relevant and useful (or otherwise…) development activities
- It helps the college to measure the potential impact of development activities on our students and staff
It is especially important for us to receive development activity evaluations now that we are approaching the end of the academic year as your feedback helps us to shape activities for next year; identifying what has had the greatest impact on practice and service.
If you've participated in a development activity that you haven't yet evaluated then you have until Friday 24th June 2016 to submit your evaluation.

Five questions with...
1 - What is your job role (and what does this entail)?
I work as a Digital and E-Learning Technologist for the Online College. My role generally involves helping staff make the best use of technology in the classroom. I also work, in part, on various technology and workflow related projects. Some of the technologies I specialise in are Google Apps and Google Apps Script.
2 - What has your career journey been so far?
Several technology based roles (computer programmer, database administration and support).
I worked as an IT Technician at the Sheffield College for several years (mostly at Peaks, Norton and City).
I’ve been working in my current role as a Digital and E-Learning Technologist since mid-August 2015.
3 - What’s the best learning experience you’ve ever had?
I took a trip to Bletchley Park in June 2012 where I learned so much about the history of World War 2 and the code breaking effort. On the day, there were a variety of short lectures to attend on secrecy, spies, ciphers and subterfuge as well as a special exhibition about the life of British wartime spy Ian Fleming (of James Bond fame). The hour long guided tour of the park was full of history and interesting anecdotes. The atmosphere was really good and great for learning because there were so many wonderful exhibits, resources and things to try out. All the staff and volunteers were really helpful and enthusiastic too. They were happy to explain things or answer any questions. A thoroughly memorable day out.
4 - What one website, book or video would you recommend for others’ learning?
I really like FutureLearn (www.futurelearn.com). It’s an online learning platform that offers MOOC (massive open online course) type courses which are free for everyone to study. They provide a diverse choice of short programmes from leading universities and institutions based all around the globe. I think it’s a fun way to learn something new when you have a bit of free time. I recommend giving it a try and becoming a Future Learner.
5 - One thing other people may not know about you?
I love football and I’m a Manchester City supporter. I’ve had a season ticket with them every year since 1983.
