Hemophobia

Chris Kelly

Definition

Hemophobia is the fear of blood.

Symptoms

Drop in blood pressure and heartrate. This drop can make them faint.

Causes

Hemophobia is often related to other phobias. Trypanophobia, or fear of medical needles, is sometimes associated with hemophobia. Also this can be caused if someone had a tramatic expirience where blood was associated with.

Treatment

Cognative-behavior therapy is the most common treatment for this. This helps you replace your bad thoughts of blood with better ones. You also learn coping strategies. In severe cases medicine can be given to bring down the anxiety. It is very hard and in some cases impossible to get rid of this on your own
