Read-A-Thon
Please complete your child's Read-A-Thon paperwork this weekend! The reading ends on Sunday, April 22. You have an extra week to collect the pledges. All of the paperwork is due back to us by Monday, April 30th.
Reading
This week in reading we focused on the story, Hey Little Ant by Phillip and Hannah Hoose. This was a fun story that was incredibly engaging for the students. The main character in the story is a boy that is challenged with the decision of whether or not to squish the ant. With this story, we made a visualization based on the author's words, we compared and contrasted the kid and the ant, and we made inferences about the importance of his friends in the story. We ended our week with an opinion piece about what we believe the boy should do. Should he squish the ant or not?
Please continue practicing sight words at home!
Math
We have wrapped up our unit on addition and subtraction 0-10. We will be assessing next week. We are starting to focus more on Math Fact Fluency in the classroom. Please continue working on addition and subtraction facts 0-10.
6th Grade Learning Buddies
This week with our 6th grade buddies, we picked an animal to begin studying for our animal reports. We are building up the anticipation of our zoo trip with buddies in May!
