Maverick Minutes

Week of 5/23-5/27

Here…we go!

Well, the awards have been given, the natives are counting down and TESTING WEEK is here! We know how hard you all have worked all year. We know how hard these kids have worked, and I will be the first to say that a test of one day does not define that! Pep them up, remind them of the strategies, give them guidance on online testing and let the chips fall where they may. This year will set a baseline for the work we've done with PLC, small group, etc. The EOG's serve as one data point for that work…not all of it. However, I know that this is the test that you all look at to assess your year and the work you've done. Just know that we truly believe we have the best teachers in this county and I don't need a test to prove that! These students are lucky to have you all and the dedication that you give each day! Thank you for that and good luck this week and next!

Thank You!

A special thank you to Linda Rucker and her helpers as she pulled off a phenomenal Awards Day at HiRMS! All the ribbons were ready, the plaques engraved and everything ran smoothly for our parents and students. I appreciate the level of respect that the students gave which is a clear representation of what they have been taught. Thank you to all of you that gathered certificates, organized the process and assisted Linda in any way. Linda, thank you for all that you did to make this a special day for students and parents!

Keep the Routine!

Just a reminder as we head into the final weeks…Please keep students on as much of a routine as possible. Again, once they sense that the routine is off, they will go fully into summer mode (I know…some are already there)! Please be mindful of the students that are on lockdown. This is put in place as much as a protection as that of punishment. Please start the process of your requirements and checkout processes. These weeks will fly and come June 9…you will be ready to bolt! Let us know how we can help to assist you with any part of this!

What a Performance!

I hope you all had the opportunity to hear the band concert this past week. What a great performance by all of our students and a phenomenal ending by our 8th Grade Band. With a magical Disney showcase of songs and an ending with Star Wars, these students were simply superior. Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Blair for their continued success with HiRMS Band!
