Class of 2023 Graduation Date
Graduates should begin ordering their caps and gowns through Herff Jones. Caps & gowns can be purchased online here for $65 plus shipping. Prices will increase after December 1st. A Herff Jones representative will be at Cedar Shoals to take in-person orders once a month until graduation. Please check emails for these dates as they are announced. Purchases can be made by cash, card or money order.

After School Cooking Class
FFA members took part in an after-school cooking class. Mrs. Throne demonstrated and had students help make homemade macaroni and cheese and a salad. The students enjoyed eating what they made and look forward to the next after-school cooking class in November. The menu will include Pennsylvania-Dutch Chicken Pot Pie. Performing and Visual Arts Scholarship Applications are available now!
Performing arts and visual arts scholarships are open to 9th through 12th-grade high school students living in the Northeast Georgia region. Students who live in Athens-Clarke County are eligible for The Classic Center Cultural Foundation’s performing arts and visual arts scholarships: Apply Now!
Recipients awarded the performing arts and visual arts scholarships will receive $2,000 and their high school program will be presented $500. The deadline to apply for the performing arts and visual arts scholarship is March 3, 2023.
College Factory's Go Succeed Symposium
When: Saturday, November 12, 2022
Time: 10am- 2pm
Location: Athens Community Career Academy
This will be a special day for high school students and parents/guardians to receive support and information on post-high school opportunities. There will be a series of interactive and informative sessions given by professionals related to college prep topics and alternative pathways. Food and refreshments will be provided.
Young adults in the North Georgia region will have the opportunity to:
- Engage in workshops and sessions on a wide range of topics from getting money for college, exploring career programs that don’t require college, gaining professional work experience while in high school, and more.
- Get FREE insight from a diverse group of experienced speakers including entrepreneurs, current students (in high school, college and trade school), parents, financial aid experts, and other acclaimed panelists.
- Take advantage of unlimited opportunities to meet with college, career, and community organization representatives. REGISTER NOW!

Mr. William Lowe of Cedar Shoals High School is one of the Foundation for Excellence's 2022 Frieda M. Thomas Teacher of Promise Award winners. Awarded annually, the Freida M. Thomas Teacher of Promise Award is presented to an outstanding teacher with no more than four years of experience. These early career teachers effectively communicate and collaborate with others and apply problem-solving strategies to enhance teaching, learning, and the school community; and who possess a clear sense of vision, purpose, and integrity that inspires and motivates others. CLear bag policy
Beginning on Friday, August 26th, CSHS will implement a clear bag policy at all sporting events. This policy will be similar to policies in place at college and professional stadiums and coliseums. There will be no entrance into sporting events without a clear bag. The following types of bags are permitted inside of CSHS sporting events:
Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12”x6”x12”, one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags, small clutch bags, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 4.5”x6.5”

- ALL students actively enrolled in CCSD must be up-to-date with all GA immunization requirements. This includes all students participating in-person AND remotely/virtually.Please follow up with your student's primary care provider to determine if your student is in need of any immunization. This should be done as soon as possible to ensure your student is up-to-date!
