Grade 3, Monday June 1
Reading Books in a Series and Writing Reviews
Morning Message
Good Morning Sunny Students,
Today is the first day of June, which is our last month of school. Usually, I start to get excited this month as I switch our school calendar from May to June, knowing all of the fun we get to have and how close we are to summer vacation. Today, I felt a little disappointed knowing we won’t be together physically to do all of the fun things in June together. However, I cheered up when I started thinking about all of the warm, sunny days ahead of us where we can spend more time outside playing, riding our bikes, taking hikes and swimming in our blow up pool.
This week, you will be writing reviews and working to persuade someone to feel the way you do. Once you learn how to do this, you might want to write a persuasive letter to your family to convince them of something fun you want to do this month. Maybe you will want to convince them to take a family hike or to earn money for a slip and slide or maybe even to get materials to make homemade popsicles...the possibilities are endless.
You are working so hard everyday, friends! Keep it up for just a little longer-we know you can do it! Summer is just around the corner.
English-Language Arts (ELA)
This week we are reading series chapter books. They can be any genre, but try to find a new series you haven't read before. It should feel "just right" so that you can cruise through the book in about 3-5 days. Can you read 3 titles in the same series in 2 weeks?
In writing, we are sharing our opinions and persuading people with our REVIEWS.
- Continue your science journal noticing growing plants, interacting animals, and weather
- Continue your feelings journal about your life
- Write anything you want for 20 minutes
- Write a review
- Read on Myon or Epic~ Hopefully a series title!
- Join Mrs. Linse's Slideshow Book Club discussing Mrs. Amato's Bonus Chapter Book of the Week: Wild Robot.
Thank you for listening to that important weekly overview lesson!
Now it's time to decide: If you have a notebook or paper, you should set it up in the ways that video showed you.
If you enjoy working on the computer, you only create the slideshow ONE TIME and use the same slideshow all week. Click here for Mrs. Linse's help quick reminder about how to make, find, and share Google Slides. You can also choose to print the slides in full page mode if it's easier for you [you do NOT have to print them].
