Book Fair October 11-14

The book fair will be open for students to shop during class library time. The fair will also be open on October 12th and 13th from 4-8 p.m.

Laughter and your health

Did you know that even thinking you are about to hear something funny will boost your health? Laughing creates good physical changes like a mini workout but without the chance of physical injury! Every 15 minutes of laughter burns about 50 calories. Good giggles helps you fend off the harmful effects of stress and increases your blood flow, it increases your oxygen intake and slows your heart rate. Laughter is not the complete solution to mental and physical health but it certainly helps. So laugh on.

• PTA SPONSORED GIFTS: Thank you for supporting the PTA through your membership, donations, and supporting fundraisers! We have been able to do the following for our students and school:

• Purchase a music cart to hold music stands for Mrs. Chase.

• Purchase math tiles for 2nd Grade.

• PTA Raffle 10/12 & 10/13, at school during conferences from 4:00pm - 8:00pm: Come and purchase tickets for raffle items from Jeans & a Cute Top, Wheaton Sports Center, Zazu, The Mac at COD, Burger Social, The Paramount Theater, Tasting Devine, the Chicago Wolves, Drury Lane, Wheaton Mulch, Moore Toys, Grahams Chocolate, Pete’s Fresh Market, and the DuPage Art League. 1 ticket for $1, 6 tickets for $5, 13 tickets for $10. CASH ONLY. Raffle winners will be announced on Friday, 10/14.

• The PTA Reflections Program is back again this Fall! EVERY STUDENT at Emerson can participate! Artwork is judged and advances through levels: school, district, regional, state, and national! This year's theme is: "Show Your Voice". Entries can be in visual art, photography, dance, music, film or literature. All work must be created specifically with this theme in mind, and be the work of one student. Entry packets are coming home in backpacks, but you can print the form here. Please review rules on PTA website for size, formats, and how to label and package artwork in your chosen category. If guidelines are not followed, artwork may be disqualified, unfortunately.
