Bachata is a type of dance and genre of music. It is listened to around the world mainly in Spanish speaking countries, and the United States. Hispanics are associated with this type of music.

History Of Bachata

The history of Bachata originates from the Dominican Republic in the 20th Century (1960's). The genre was influenced by Cuban Bolero. The beginning of the genre started when artist José Manual Calderón recored the first sound track. It didn't start getting popular until artist Luis Segura started recording tracks in the same style. Luis is known as "The King of Bachata".


The genre usually talks about love or lost love in the songs. Some songs have a waltz type rhythm. The main instrument(s) is a guitar, and the vocals are usually soft and slow.
