Z-Pass Bus Program Begins May 2nd
We will begin our DDSD Z-Pass Bus program on Monday, May 2nd. Students who ride the bus will be receiving a bus tag that will go onto the right side of their backpack. Classrooms will be helping students to get these onto their backpacks prior to the end of the day Monday.
Watch this short video to learn a little more about the program:
DDSD Implements Z-Pass for Bus Riders
This program is designed to enhance bus rider safety by giving the Transportation Department the ability to track when and where each student gets on and off a district school bus. The District has partnered with a company called Zonar to provide the badges (bus pass cards) for the program. Students must carry this badge with them to ride the school bus. It will be scanned as students enter and exit the bus, recording the badge number, location, and time. Select district staff and parents will have access to this information. Parents can view ridership information by using ZPass+, a ridership alerts app from Zonar. View the Zpass+ app details below for registration instructions.
How to create a Parent/Guardian Zpass+ Account
To view your child’s ridership activity, begin by registering for a Zpass+ account.
The registration process requires entering the RFID# located on the back of their badge. Once registered, you can view your child’s activity either online at www.zpassplus.com or with the Zpass+ app.
The app is available to download from both the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Lost Badge
Students will receive their initial bus pass badge free of charge. In the event of a lost badge, the student or parent will need to immediately call the Transportation office at (503) 256-6526 to request a replacement. The first replacement is free, however additional replacements may result in a $3 fee. Students who lose their badge will be required to get a temporary pass each day from the school office until they receive a replacement badge.
Students who arrive at the bus stop in the morning without their bus pass will be allowed to ride the bus to their school. However, in order to ride the bus home in the afternoon, they will need to get a temporary bus pass at the school office. Please help us by making sure that your student has their ZPass badge when they head to the bus stop each morning.
Opt-Out of Tracking
The badge serves as a bus pass for all students using district-provided transportation services. All riders are required to carry one. Participation in the electronic tracking portion of the program is not mandatory but highly encouraged by the District. Parents, as well as students age 14 and older, may opt out of the electronic tracking feature by completing the Bus Pass Electronic Tracking Opt Out Form.

- English: DDSD Bus Pass Tracking Opt Out Form
- Russian: DDSD Bus Pass Tracking Opt Out Form

- Vietnamese: DDSD Bus Pass Tracking Opt Out Form
Turn in completed forms to your student’s school or the Transportation Office (2904 SE 122nd or schoolbus@ddsd40.org). It is important to note that even if you elect to opt out of the electronic tracking portion of the program, your student will still need to use their bus pass to get on the school bus.

Student and Family Virtual Talent Show - Still Accepting Submissions!
We are still accepting submissions to our Student and Family Talent Show! We have extended the deadline to Monday, May 2nd. See information below about what kinds of talent you can show off and how to submit your entry. We look forward to seeing all the talent that Gilbert Park offers!
Submission Information:
What: Students can submit talents individually or with family members.
Why: We want to provide an opportunity for families to get to know each other and value each other’s talents.
So what types of "talent" can you share? Singing, dancing and playing instruments are great, but you can also show off your athletic talents (sports, hobbies), your artistic talents (drawing/painting, building and creating), as well as anything else (cooking, training a pet, demonstrate your skills speaking more than one language, use your imagination). We are limiting the time to two minutes per student, so it may help to plan ahead and practice BEFORE you start recording.
How: There are a few ways you can submit a video: The easiest way is to use FlipGrid. We have posted a link to FlipGrid and a "How to" video that gives instructions for how to use the program at the bottom of this email. You can also submit any videos you record off your own devices to us directly through the google folder link included below or email it to amber_tatge@ddsd40.org.
