Important Information
- The Hillsboro Elks are sponsoring 500 Hillsboro School District families for the holidays. The program provides food and gifts for children 0-18 years old (as of 12/25/2021). Items are delivered directly to families. This is a first come, first serve opportunity. If you are interested, please contact the school office at (503) 844-1390.
- Parents/Guardians, anyone who is approved and comes to pick up your student from school needs to be prepared to show their ID to our office staff in order to confirm their identity. Since our office staff is new this year and not familiar with all of our families yet, we appreciate you being ready to show your ID. If you send a friend or family member to pick up your student, they must be on your student's list of emergency contacts. Please check ParentVue to check who is approved to pick up your student from school and make any necessary changes.
- Please do not use the Handicap parking spaces if you do not have that legal designation. Many people are using it as a temporary parking spot or turnaround at arrival and dismissal and we have staff and families who need those spaces. Thank you.
- Century Boys Basketball will be hosting their youth basketball tryouts for any interested 4th, 5th and 6th grade boys. The tryouts will take place at Century High School on Sunday, Oct. 17th and Tuesday, Oct. 19th from 5:00-6:30pm. Please attend both days if possible. For registration and more information please go to the Century youth basketball website at www.centuryboysbasketball.com/youth.

- No dogs allowed on HSD school campuses during school hours. Please do not bring your dog on campus at arrival, dismissal, or during the day. Thank you. Please refer to this HSD policy for more information.
Absences, Tardies & COVID Protocol
- If your child is going to be absent, please call our attendance line at 503.844.1393. Please give the reason for absence. If a student is out sick, please make sure to include the signs and symptoms they are experiencing. If your child will be arriving late due to a prearranged reason like a medical appointment, please call the attendance line or office so they will not receive an unexcused tardy.
- Please report all student COVID related symptoms, exposures and positive cases to our main office, 503-844-1390.
- Info on Washington County COVID testing sites
- Please review these Too Sick for School fliers so you are aware of when you need to keep your student(s) home. Too Sick for School-Eng Too Sick for School- Span

- If your student(s) arrives at 7:45 or later, they must stop at the office to check in and get a tardy pass.
Toys, trading cards and other personal items
At Butternut we stick to this policy and need students to leave toys, personal items, trading cards, such as Pokemon cards at home. If they are brought to school and out of backpacks, staff will collect them and return to students at the end of the day. If it becomes a consistent issue, items will be collected and a parent or guardian will need to come pick them up from school.
Strengthening Families Program
Below are fliers about a free class designed specifically for parents and caregivers with their 10 - 14 year old child/adolescent. There is a choice to participate on Tuesdays or Wednesdays via Zoom.

Volunteers
We are looking forward to having volunteers in our school this year at some point in time. For the beginning of the year, HSD is in the process of setting up procedures and protocols for volunteering in alignment with guidelines and rules from ODE and the state. Depending on current health and safety guidelines, we hope to welcome volunteers soon. More information to come! This is a great time to be sure that your background check is current. Go to: https://www.hsd.k12.or.us/Page/163 to fill out the volunteer application.
