Week of November 13 - 17, 2017
School Psychologist Week
We would like to thank our very own Caroline Canady for her hard work on behalf of our Sawnee students!
Shine Time Plans
- All grade levels should have (or almost have) a solid plan for the second Shine Time rotation.
- If you need a list of IST students, please check with Brooke, Karen or Becky.
- Please be sure that the final list of students is shared with the A/C team.
Formative Assessment & Data
The links below include some ideas for formative assessments and templates for collecting formative data (along with some questions to ask yourself).
CHOA Blankets
- Thank you so much for your support of the West Community CHOA Service Project!
- If you would like to donate any other blankets, please drop them off in Becky's office by December 12.
- If you are free on December 15 come out to the WFHS Boys' Basketball game at 7:30pm. The West Community Schools will join together to present all of our blankets to a CHOA representative!

Power Planning
We’re so excited to offer Power Planning again this year!
Here’s the schedule:
- Thursday November 30th – KK (7:30-11:15) and 2nd (11:45-3:30)
- Friday, December 1st – 4th (7:30-11:15) and 5th (11:45-3:30)
- Monday, December 4th – 3rd (7:30-11:15) and 1st (11:45-3:30)
- Tuesday, December 5th – EIP/EL/Gifted (8:30-12:30) and Specials (12:00-3:00)
- Wednesday, December 6th – Autism (8:30-12:30) and PreK (11:30-3:30)
- Thursday, December 14th – CoT Teams
We sent out invites last Thursday so that you could go ahead and block off your schedule. Please make every effort to be at Sawnee on that day so you can collaborate with your team.
Grade Level Power Planning – We will secure a sub for you on those days. Our support staff will have planning sessions on Tuesday, December 5th, Wednesday, December 6th, and Thursday, December 14th, so we’re asking you to eat lunch with your students on those days.
Support Staff Power Planning – Please do NOT block off your schedule to attend Power Planning with the grade levels you support. EIP/EL/Gifted will have their own PP on December 5th and IRR will have CoT Planning on December 14th. IF your planning falls during the PP segment, feel free to push in during that time.
EIP/EL/Gifted Power Planning – Please block off your entire day on December 5th. You’ll have your own PP time in the morning and then will help cover specials rotations in the afternoon.
Specials Power Planning – Your PP will wrap up in time for you to help with afternoon duties.
PreK & Autism Power Planning – We will provide coverage for you with our IRR teachers.
CoTaught Duos – After the grade level PP sessions, co-taught duos will have a CoT Planning rotation on December 14th. This will give you time to discuss what took place at PP and plan ahead for Q3. (Separate schedule was sent to CoT teams.)
As we get closer to our Power Planning dates, we will send out an agenda.
Enjoy the time with your team!
