School Has Started!

We are up and running. All grades, Preschool through Fifth, are in session. Thank you to everyone who made it out to Sneak-a-Peek night this year. We are looking forward to many more family events.

In order to make family events happen, we need families to join our PTA. Just by signing up to be a member, you help support our students. There is no commitment. However, if you can help with school events, we really need you! This year we will have a Chocolate Candy Fundraiser, Turner Days Parade Float, Fall Family Fun Night, Bingo, and Spring Family Fun Night (just to name a few). Please consider joining our PTA. Thank you!

ALL FAMILIES... if you are reading this, I need you to log into your Infinite Campus Parent Portal and complete all Acknowledgement Forms. These are found when logging into Infinite Campus. Choose "Documents" and then electronically sign all forms. We require that each student has this completed ASAP. We will be sending home a special treat to every student who's parent completes Acknowledgement Forms.. Please log in and complete today (link to Infinite Campus at the bottom of this newsletter).

There is an important change coming to school meals for the upcoming 22 – 23 school year. The USDA program that has provided free school meals to all students during the COVID-19 pandemic is ending on June 30th. This means that unless qualifying families turn in a free/reduced meal application, they will need to pay full price for meals when school starts in August.

We encourage you to complete the free/reduced meal application for the 22 – 23 school year as you may be eligible to continue receiving the free meal benefit.

Students who qualify for free/reduced school meals may qualify for other benefits as well! Those benefits may include discounts on ACT/SAT testing fees, college application fees, as well as home internet and technology devices, among others.

Students who qualify for free/reduced school meals receive the same school meal options and check out process as students who do not receive free/reduced school meals.

Families who receive benefits through SNAP, TANF, or the foster care system are already enrolled in the free school meal benefits and do not need to submit an application

The free meals, which are safe, nutritious, and delicious, help extend family food budgets too. For more information, contact Megan Rabun, Food Services Coordinator, at (913) 288-4141.

Get Involved!

Join PTA! Our PTA needs YOU! We currently have 3 PTA Board Members, one is a teacher and two are parents. We need more support in order to keep PTA moving forward at Midland Trail. The commitment is small. We meet once a month, after school, for 30-45 minutes. We plan a few activities each year: Back To School, Classroom Parties, Teacher Treats, Candy Sales, and our biggest event is the MTE Carnival. We cannot do this without more support. Please consider joining PTA and offering to help out once a month. You can contact Lorraine Martinez at martinezl@turnerusd202.org or call the school for more information.
