December 2014
From the Music Room
News from Mrs. Spargo:
- The 2014 Veteran's Day program was a huge success! Thank you to our guest speaker, Colonel Moseley, for inspiring our kids to reach for their dreams knowing that anything is possible if you believe in yourself. In addition, our Edison students filled the gym with heart-warming patriotic music that tugged at the hearts of our visiting Veterans, teachers, and parents. Way to go Edison Eagles!
- Coming up in just a few weeks is the 2nd and 3rd grade holiday program entitled "Toys: the Night They Came Alive!" You will not want to miss this fabulous presentation. So, be sure to mark you calendars for December 17, 2014 at 2:15 PM. Join us for a fun filled musical adventure that is sure to get you in the holiday spirit!
From the Gym
News from Mr. Gee:
- Students will be spending time on Classroom Based Assessments which include cardiorespiratory, flexibility, and muscle endurance.
- Students were introduced to the Pacer Test last week. The purpose is to improve cardiorespiratory endurance and to raise their test scores on a monthly basis.
- We will be starting our basket ball unit soon. We will be playing lots of fun games in the lower grades with the younger students.
- Make sure your children come to school with proper gym shoes. Safety is important and we want to avoid any injuries.
- HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY SEASON!
From the Library
News from Ms. Nettle:
Keep checking the library to find the new books from our October Scholastic Book Fair!
Kindergarteners have been learning the rules and procedures of the library, book care, working with rhyming words and nursery rhymes.
First Graders have been using the library procedures to make book choices for the first time. All books stay in the classrooms for use there.
Second Graders have been choosing just right books to use in their classrooms. We have been learning about story parts in library class.
Third Graders have been learning all about the 5 sections of the library and the features on each type of book. The third grade students have been choosing the best fit book for their reading levels.
Fourth and Fifth Graders have been working with the text features of non-fiction books which will help them find facts fast.
The next AR store will be December 3! Use all the AR points that you earned since September!
Parents: Did you know that you can access your child's AR records from home?
Students log in just as they do at school. You can see all the books students have read and the tests they've taken. Just use the Renaissance link below!
