LION ROAR
Review and Reset
Dear Lions,
We are excited to have our new student government in place. Looking forward to student leadership. Congratulations to our officers!
I want to thank Mrs. Talisetti for all the work she did to launch student leadership and allow for us to safely reopen schools as we transitioned back into in-person learning. She will be working at LCPA as their Assistant Principal for the remainder of the school year, while still being a part of our collective TFHE community. I want to welcome back Mr. Monroy as our Dean of Students. He is coming back with his incredible positive energy and commitment to excellence on behalf of our students.
We are into the second week of our second marking period. I know that many of you want to play winter sports. With tryouts at the start of November, your GP2 grades need to be above a 2.0 if you want to tryout. You need to maintain a 2.0 or higher in your semester 1 games to play in season games after winter break.
Adapting to changes on campus. We are resetting this week, with increased supervision and review of the community code in Advisory.
Welcome new campus supervisors Bibiana and Ivan. You have also seen other members of the Student Life Team, Mr. Farfan, Tania, Angela, Noah and Julie. Reminder that all staff from the Foundation are part of our team to help campus stay safe and to maximize learning. If you don’t know who someone is, introduce yourself so that we build a stronger community.
Our goal is to have all scholars in class for the duration of each class. Our teachers are working hard to engage you with activities that are challenging and fun. Please make sure you are staying in class during instruction and work time - less wandering around in the sun.
We have also been able to tighten up our safety protocols with more staff. If you need to go to the creek area to get a ball during brunch or lunch, please check with supervision staff to walk over together. Please be careful when playing ball. Students are not allowed to climb any area to retrieve items. We will go up weekly to get balls and make them available for you. For our students who drive, make sure to not leave items like chargers in your car. You may not access vehicles during the school day.
We had some issues with the Zoom link for the Sept 23rd cafecito. We will use google meet for the Cafecito on Monday evening at 6:30pm. Cash for College workshop is Tuesday evening at 5pm for Seniors and their families. There is no school on Thursday and Friday for TFHE Professional Development. Monday, October 11th is Indigenous People’s Day, so it will be a short week and long weekend for our LVLA Lions.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Silb
