Camp Invention
Open House/ Title 1 Annual Meeting
Open House for the 2023-24 school year will be Tuesday, August 8 from 5:00-6:00 PM. Students and parents can the meet their teacher, visit their classroom and drop off larger classroom supplies. Also, parents of car riders can pick up their car tags. Student’s first day of school is Thursday, August 10.
STEAM Throughout Brooklyn
Pre-KPre-K continued to work on their ocean theme this week. They painted real sea shells, explored sand and sea shells in the sensory bin and went on a treasure hunt around the school looking for sea creatures! | KindergartenKindergarten had a pirate day while learning that "ar" says “arrrr.” They completed a treasure hunt to find the buried treasure! They sure “arrrr” smarrrrt. Members of the Martinsville Rotary Club visited and presented each student with an “I Like Me” book! | First GradeFirst grade had a fantastic time at the Indianapolis Zoo Friday, May 12! They looked for animal adaptations to finish their PLTW animal modules. |
Pre-K

Second GradeThe second graders finished up the year with a unit on nutrition. They used My Plate to help them learn about what and how much they should eat to keep them healthy. | Third Grade Third grade completed their last PLTW module: Science of Flight. they created several different types of paper airplanes and discussed how the different designs affected the flight of the plane. | Fourth GradeFourth graders built a KinetiCan to demonstrate the conversion between kinetic energy to potential energy and back. In this activity, the students make a tin can toy with a secret mechanism while exploring kinetic energy. When you roll a tin can toy away, it comes rolling back! |
Second Grade
The second graders finished up the year with a unit on nutrition. They used My Plate to help them learn about what and how much they should eat to keep them healthy.
Third Grade
School Wide Title 1
Funding has been made available through School Wide Title 1 Services to Brooklyn Elementary for the purpose of providing students with extra support in reading/language arts and math. This extra support is available for all students at Brooklyn Elementary. Classroom teachers, Title 1 Teachers and instructional aides provide assistance through small group and individualized instruction as children demonstrate a need for support. Please contact your teacher about services your child may receive.
