PTA NEWS
Thank You for Coming to Sign-up Night for Watch D.O.G.S.!
Our Roan Forest Dads are the Best!
More than 50 Dads and father figures came to sign-up night for Watch D.O.G.S. on Thursday, September 15.
Everyone enjoyed Papa John’s Pizza while watching The Today’s Show coverage about the Watch D.O.G.S. program – Dads of Great Students. You can watch it here: http://www.fathers.com/watchdogs/watch-d-o-g-s-featured-on-the-today-show/.
Signing up on our year-long calendar, Dads found their perfect day to come spend time at Roan Forest. For many, that special day will be on their child’s birthday and for other Dads they selected a couple of days to come spend the day with the students of Roan Forest.
For Dads and other father figures (granddads, step dads, uncles, adult brothers, etc.) unable to attend the sign-up night, you can still sign up to be a Watch D.O.G.S. Remember to get DPS cleared before coming to volunteer. Click HERE to register and apply (http://www.neisd.net/vol/index.html).
For more information about the Watch D.O.G.S. Program,
contact Jeremiah Dominguez at watchdogs@roanforestpta.org
Bike Rodeo, Friday, September 23
The Bike Rodeo begins at 8 a.m.
Parents are welcome to come see their student participate in the Bike Rodeo. If you would like to volunteer during the Bike Rodeo, we can use parents’ help. Click HERE to Volunteer for Bike Rodeo.
We do not have a schedule for grade level participation in the Bike Rodeo. The length of time per grade level depends upon the number of students participating.
Volunteer Opportunities “The greatest gift you can give a child, is your time.”
Volunteering in our local schools provides our students with adult role models, an enriched learning environment, and bridges the gap between home and school. NEISD has been able to provide top notch quality education because of the countless hours our parent volunteers have contributed to their local schools. Join us today and make a difference!
ALL Volunteers must be registered and apply for DPS Clearance. Click HERE to register to become a volunteer.
For questions regarding Volunteering with Roan Forest PTA, please contact our
VP of Volunteers – Deanna Mazzocco, volunteers@roanforestpta.org.
We are using Signup.com to Organize our Volunteer Activities
The creators of SignUp.com believe that when people get together, great things happen. Roan Forest PTA is using Signup.com to help parents sign up for volunteer opportunities at our school. (For your privacy, SignUp.com does not share your email address with anyone.)
Current volunteer opportunities with online sign ups include Bike Rodeo, the lunchroom and the library. We will be creating an online Watch D.O.G.S. sign-up soon.
Lunchroom Volunteers are Needed
We are in need of help in the lunchroom! Please consider coming in to help students open packages, give out napkins and help the staff develop good lunchtime routines and behaviors. You are welcome to sign up for a portion of the lunch periods or all of them.
SignUp.com is the leading online SignUp and reminder tool. Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:
1) Click the link to see our Lunchroom Sign Up: http://signup.com/go/T62aWy
2) Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like.
3) Sign up! It's Easy - you will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on SignUp.com.
Library Volunteers are Needed
My name is Susan Kuo and I am the PTA Library Volunteer Chair this year at Roan Forest Elementary.
Our librarian, Mrs. Allen, is in need of volunteers to assist in re-shelving the library books that the students have returned. In the past, we have signed up for a day of the week on either a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
Since I realize that many people's schedules change on a weekly basis, I am going to try a new system using sign-up.com. I will be sending out a sign-up before the beginning of the month and ask that you sign-up for the days that are best for you that month.
I am looking for 1-2 volunteers Tuesday through Friday. (We will add Monday later if needed.) You can come any time between 8 and 2 on the day that you volunteer. Re-shelving usually takes no more than an hour.
In the next week or so, I will also be sending out a sign-up for volunteers for the Book Fair which will be from Sept. 29 (set-up) until Oct. 7 (take down). During that time, we will not be re-shelving books.
If you are new to the school or new to volunteering at the library, and would like more information on re-shelving, please email me at coxsusanr@aim.com. I will be more than happy to meet you at the library and go over the basics.
We're using SignUp.com to organize our upcoming library re-shelving SignUps.
1) Click this link to see our Library SignUp on SignUp.com: http://signup.com/go/mvv9RU
2) Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like.
3) Sign up! It's Easy - you will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on SignUp.com.
