STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Bill Cryderman is our staff member in the spotlight. Mr. Cryderman has worked for Columbia School District since 1985 . He is the music teacher for all 800+ students at CES and CUES. He teaches 8 classes every single day! His favorite restaurant is the Outback Steakhouse, his favorite candy is peanut butter M&Ms and his favorite musical is "The Music Man." He is currently getting the 2nd graders at CES ready to perform "The Holly Jolly Pirates of Pinatavile" on Wed. Dec. 12th at 6:00 p.m. He enjoys playing music at his church and is a most excellent trumpet player. We are grateful to Mr. Cryderman for his love of music and dedication to helping our students love music, too!

2nd GRADE MUSICAL

Wednesday, December 12th at 6:00 p.m. in the CES Gymnasium our CES 2nd graders will perform "The Holly Jolly PIrates of Pinataville!" Please come and join us for a celebration of laughter and the holidays.

SMILES FOR MILES

What does Mrs. Claus sing to Santa on his Birthday?

Freeze a Jolly Good Fellow!

TOYS FOR MOTTS

Maria Cook, a Columbia Graduate who is currently attending CMU to become a teacher, started this wonderful project. When she was younger, she had a personal experience spending the night in the hospital during the Holidays. This is her 6th year of collecting toys for children at MOTTS and delivering them. If you would like to support her project, please drop off any new toy at the CES office before December 12th. Please do NOT wrap the toys, Maria takes care of that, too!

SWEATSHIRTS & HATS & GLOVES, OH MY!

Below is a photo of our current LOST & FOUND items. Just a friendly reminder that many sweatshirts, gloves, hats, etc. look alike. Please consider labeling items with your child's name. This will help us return items to your child, when found.

BOOK BINGO WITH SANTA

If you have never tried Book Bingo, Friday, December 6th is a great evening to try it out! SANTA will be there! Please join us at CUES anytime from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Bingo starts in the CUES cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. Pizza, Nachos and lots of snacks are available so you don't have to worry about making dinner beforehand. Bingo cards are a 50 cent donation per card. Santa's Secret Shop will also be open for students who still need to purchase a few gifts for giving.

IF YOUR CHILD IS ABSENT

If your child is absent, please call 592-7552 and leave a message including their name and reason for absence. This saves Mrs. Douglas time in the morning because she calls each person who hasn't called in and leaves them a message. Thank you for your help in this matter.

CASH BASH

The 5th Annual Golden Cash Bash will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Gene Davis & Sons Banquet & Convention Center. K-KIDS NEWS

K Kids Clothing Drive - we are collecting new and gently used winter clothing (winter coats, snow pants, hats, gloves and boots) to be used for the teacher's loaning closet and those in need in this area.

K-Kids Canned Food Drive - we are helping to collect food for the Brooklyn Food Pantry. Please bring in any food item to help those in need. This organization also accepts monetary donations, which they use to choose food items out of a catalog at a discounted price.

Terrific Kids - we are looking for adult volunteers who are willing to be a mentor by writing encouraging notes, leaving a little gift of encouragement, dropping off a small treat for a student's lunch...or whatever you feel would give your assigned student a boost. This type of mentoring is flexible and does not require face-to-face meetings. Please let us know if you are an adult willing to be a "Terrific Kids" mentor.

SPIRIT OF GIVING

Mrs. Aguilera and Mrs. Thompson's Kindergarten classes sent CANDY to the troops!

COUNSELOR'S CORNER

Would you like to mentor a student but don’t have time to come to school during the day? In January, we are starting a program called “TERRIFIC KIDS.” You would be partnered with a child who would benefit from your support. You can write them notes of encouragement and deliver them to our office or mail them, give your student little gifts from time to time, leave them a treat for their lunch, etc. If you are interested in being a mentor for TERRIFIC KIDS, please email Ashley.Phelps@myeagles.org or call 517-592-6632.

If you believe your child would benefit from having a mentor from this program, please email Mrs. Phelps @Ashley.Phelps@myeagles.org
