A Message from the Principal's Desk:
Greetings Kingsway Community! I hope that each and every one of you is off to a fantastic new year. KRMS students will be in their new elective classes as we begin the second semester in a few days. February is packed with school-wide events and is sure to keep our student body engaged. We sold 300 Semi-formal tickets for our 8th graders. The dance this year has a Starry Nights theme, and the students seem excited for the event. On February 16th, our annual Black History Month event entitled, "The African American Experience", will take place. Our entire student body will be involved in the event. The 8th graders will be hard at work over the next few weeks preparing their projects, and our seventh graders will get the opportunity to see their presentations as will parents and community members. Finally, the month will conclude with our upcoming second semester Renaissance celebration. This celebration will take place on Friday, February 24; hopefully, we will reach our goal of 325 students in attendance. Encourage your child to get involved and have a great month!

Universal Wellness Screener: All students (Grades 7-12) are provided with brief wellness screening in survey form, two times per school year. The Behavioral and Emotional Screening System (BESS) is a brief wellness screener that includes a student self-report that takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete via an online platform. Kingsway will continue the use of this screener to proactively collect comprehensive, accurate, and reliable information about students’ perceptions of their own well-being.
The results will be used as one of many data sources to determine the need for social, emotional, or behavioral support for our students. Our goal is to provide proactive, evidence-based resources to those students who may benefit. As a parent or guardian, you might be contacted and offered various options of support.
Please click here for more information regarding our universal screening process.
Renaissance Program: All students who are applying for entry into the Renaissance Program must submit the application via Schoology by Wednesday, February 8. As a reminder, two hours must be community service related. Also, copies of the application can be found on pages 5-11 of the student agenda.
