Notes from the Administration
Thank you to everyone who has graciously taken a tag from our Giving Tree. All of the tags have been taken.
Just a reminder that our doors open at 8:30 am. We can not be responsible for students prior to 8:30 am.
Please ensure that we have your current address and phone numbers on file. We have had several students who have been in our care until after 6 pm, and we've not been able to get in touch with parents, or guardians.
And finally, if your child is in an after-school program, you must be on time to pick up your child. Students not picked up on time will be excused from the extra curricular activity.
Thank you for your consideration of our time and your child's worry.
Volunteer Editors Needed
Whittier is looking for volunteers to support our students writing process. The highest yielding strategy to improve student achievement is feedback.
Volunteer Editors would conference one-one to provide feedback to students to make edits in writing mechanics: capital letters, spelling and punctuation for kindergarten through fifth grade. No specialized training is necessary. Volunteer Editors can support any day of the week for a time that works personally for their schedule. Click here to select a day and time:https://forms.gle/HCnrmu4wyirREfS38
Arrive the day and time you have volunteered by checking in through the front office. Please grab one Volunteer Editor basket that has pencils, paper, erasers, corrective tape, dictionary and much more to support you in helping students in writing mechanics: capital letters, spelling and punctuation. Any questions please contact literacy specialist, jacqueline.cramer@fcps.org
Thank you to all of our editors who have currently signed up to support our students.

Blessings in a Backpack Peanut Butter Drive
Blessings in a Backpack is an all volunteer organization that provides weekend bags of food for kids. We currently serve about 215 Whittier kids. Our Winter Break PEANUT BUTTER DRIVE is in full swing. We’d be very grateful for plastic jars of creamy or crunchy...any brand, but ONLY 16oz jars, please. Larger jars are too heavy for our little ones to carry. (We provide Sunbutter to the kiddos with allergies.)
Please send any donated jars to Whittier by December 13th. Thank you for your support!
