2nd Annual Spelling Bee

On Tuesday, 19 students participated in the 2nd Annual Dwyer Spelling Bee. These students qualified after going through written rounds in their Core classes before Winter Break. The competition was tough and it took many rounds to find our champion. Many words were difficult for even the adults to pronounce and the winning word ended up being "en-organic."

Participants in the Spelling Bee were: Annika Aguirre, Grant Brown, Emily Chen, Andrew Dunham, Kennedy Freck, Luke Hanna, Adam Hayek, Claire Lewis, Dominic Marella, Daphne Moyes, Paul Nguyen, Kayla Operana, Claire Pham, Emily Salter, Mary Sharkoff, Samantha Shaw, Cristian Solano, Courtney Tonnu, Dana Van, and Benjamin Weil. Thank you to Mr. Smith for organizing the event and Mrs. Garcia, Mrs. Rasmussen, and Mr. Smith for judging.

Congratulations to Emily Chen, our Spelling Bee Winner and Courtney Tonnu, our Runner-Up. Both young ladies will move on to the Orange County Department of Education Spelling Bee in February. Stay tuned for their county results!

It is not too late to join the contest. We love the super-cute user names - but to be recognized and receive an award - we'll need your real name, school and grade as your user name. Please update by January 30th.
